The Postal Service – The District Sleeps Alone Tonight Lyrics 21 years ago
ok a friend told me his view of this song...pretty damn good... it's about a guy in rehab for alcohol. the vinyl sticker with big block letters is his "cell" number, "that tells your new friends i am a visitor here" meaning he's not that bad, but bad enough to think about his actions and why he should change them. "the only thing keeping me dry is where i am", he is saying that the only reason why he isn't drinking anymore is because he's in rehab and can't. eventually he sees that he was the one worth leaving in a previous relationship because he was so messed up on alcohol. then he recalls how the district sleeps alone at night after the bars turn out the lights, how everyone goes home swerving and putting other people in harms way, which is what he used to do, and now he finally sees that he was the one worth leaving because this is all screwed up and he can finally realize this and make a change. pretty good i thought, but all the same, whatever the song means to you---go with.

Tupac Shakur – Starin' Through My Rearview (feat. Outlawz) Lyrics 21 years ago
staring through a rearview or any mirror makes you see opposite of what really is. by looking through his rearview he is wishing all the bad that he's rapping about could be turned around. that's what i see.

Pearl Jam – Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town Lyrics 21 years ago
ok vedder is not singing about a personal experience, since he was brought up by his mother and step father, who both led him to believe that his step father was his real father. he got pissed when he was finally told the truth and changed his last name to his mothers maiden name, vedder. but i really believe that this song is about a child who was put up for adoption. when he grew up he searched and found his mother hence the line: "me you wouldn't recall, for i'm not my former. it's hard when you're stuck upon the shelf." by this i believe that she didn't recognize him since he wasn't a baby anymore, and it would be hard for her to recognize him since she stuck him on a shelf all these years. like any song though, it can be interpreted many different ways, but this is how i've always thought of it. just didn't know if it was about vedders childhood or not.

Jimmy Buffett – He Went To Paris Lyrics 21 years ago
just an old man that jimmy met up with on his travels that told him his life story. he likes jimmy so he tells him "jimmy some of it's magic, some of it's tragic, but i had a good life all the way".
