so i started to read all the comments people put on this song and decided i would just put out what i thought it was about and if someone has the same idea as me then, my bad. i view this song a little more morbid then the comments i did read. sure this song could be about a failing relationship and of that i'm almost certain but for some reason i thought about revenge and then regret.
starting with revenge. so far i agree with the cold hearted girlfriend that was always yelling at him or putting him down. and one day he got fed up with it all and decided to do something about it. for some reason i was thinking rape.. the whole "It's cold as a tomb and its dark in your room when I sneak to your bed to pour salt on your wounds." okay maybe rape was little more harsh then i should have gone but something like that. but she was always breathing down his neck with how he could never be what she wanted him to be.
but then on with the regret. sometime later in life he realizes how much he really did hurt her and is willing to do anything so she can just be in peace because living in the same town and seeing eachother as they drive or walk down the street doing the day to day actvivities anyone does they see eachother and it just bring all the bad memories to life. now he just wants her to be happy even if it makes him miserable by having to move out of the town or her telling how "vile i already know that i am". |

To me this song can be viewed on so many angles. One being about growing up and how things just happen. People can try to figure out all of life’s little tricks and pick away at things till they really show how imperfect they are, but those people never really grow. You need to take what you know and put it into your life. Then the song continues and makes me think that it’s about giving up and excepting things. “It’s too late to have faith Don’t think things will ever change”. But as the song goes on it makes me think that it is about asking people to just give you your space or how annoying it is that people can make so many bad choices, and how some people make things into drama. Maybe it’s a family member, a boy/girl friend or just a friend. “Think before you make up your mind you don’t seem too realize I could do this on my own And if I fall I’ll take it all It’s so easy after all”. Then I think it can be viewed as forgiving people that have hurt you. “Believe me, it’s alright”. Maybe I am missing the point completely and getting my ideas too much off the context but with this song I don’t feel that it goes much deeper than this. If someone could give me their opinion on what it is about, that would be just great. :) |

To me this song meant the same as it did for the majority. I always thought it was about sucide and how things just wittle us down to nothing. makes me think about my friend that had receantly comitted sucide by walking out infront of a truck.

im new to oasis, but my best friend loves them and sucked me in as well. it reminds me of him (my bestfriend) because we always talk about how someday we will be more than best friends and when we say "I love you" to each other it will mean more. "Maybe your gunna be the one that saves me" just ties in with hoping that someday when or if it does happen he will be the one to end my searching. what a thought. and "there are many things id like to say to you but i dont know how" is just me saying.. i love you now, but i cant tell you. thanks oasis for your music. |
