Brian May – Driven by you Lyrics 21 years ago
Ok, so you're sat by a pool during a rare break from your day job. Someone suggests that you might like to consider writing a jingle for a new Ford advert. You give it a little thought, and produce this song. Mr May, sir, you are a genius.

Freddie Mercury – Barcelona Lyrics 21 years ago
I implore people to listen to the Barcelona album in its entirety. It's a series of songs that tell a simple love story between a Rock star and a fan which comes to nothing. It is an extraordinarily beautiful piece of work which gives us a tantilising glimpse of what may have been had this incredibly talented man lived.

Queen – The March Of The Black Queen Lyrics 21 years ago
God only knows what this is about (although I have read the analysis referred to by Geek UK above, and commend the author for their research/imagination if nothing else).I also agree with Mr Geek that this is the best song ever written, from the best album ever recorded (and incidentally Brian May's favourite). It defies serious interpretation, just lie back and go along for the ride. Pure, unadulterated genius.

Queen – Spread Your Wings Lyrics 21 years ago
Beautiful song written by John Deacon. He didn't contribute many by comparison to the others, but this is a corker. Was fortunate enough to see them perform this live in 1979. If this song is one of your favourites make sure you listen to the Live Killers version, the guitar solo at the end is superb.

Queen – The Millionaire Waltz Lyrics 21 years ago
What, no comments. To my mind there are three songs that define why queen were both unique and unsurpassed. Bo Rhap (obviously), The glorious over the top rant that is March Of The Black Queen and The Millionaire Waltz. This is a work of sheer genius. It twists and turns, from ballad to rocker via a waltz that Beethoven would have been proud of, and if that wasn't enough, they throw in a superb Brian May solo too. I sincerely believe that in 200 years time people will be performing and analysing Queens music just as we do the classical performers now. Who cares what it's about, just sit back and enjoy.

Queen – You Take My Breath Away Lyrics 21 years ago
The most beautiful song ever committed to vinyl (showing my age). Wonderfully performed, and from an extremely underrated album.

Queen – These Are The Days Of Our Lives Lyrics 21 years ago
Re: y2doggy's query. Although after The Miracle all songs were credited to Queen, this was simply a royalties splitting excercise and the individual members of the band continued to contribute songs in the way they always had. In the past the question of royalties had always caused friction and this was a way of solving it. ( for instance, Roger got the same amount of royalties for the Bo Rhap single as Freddie simply because I'm In Love With My Car was the B side). For the Innuendo album, Roger was responsible for Innuendo, Ride The Wild Wind, and Days Of Our Lives. Brian wrote Headlong, I can't Live With You, Hitman, My Bijou and The Show Must Go On. John wrote Don't Try So Hard and Freddie was responsible for I'm Going Slightly Mad, Delilah and All Gods People. As an interesting aside, All Gods People was co-written With Mike Moran and was originally intended for use on the Barcelona album, but he couldn't fit it in and maintain the flow of the album. If you listen to the track and you are familiar with the Barcelona album you will see that it is very much of that style. If you're not familiar with the Barcelona album.... Why not ! It is a sublime piece of work full of beautiful melodies. That album more than anything else showed just how much more freddie had to offer. what a tragic waste. anyway, thats me done. Bye bye
