i might be totally getting this wrong. but my interpretation is that the injustices of life we sort of leave alone and dont act upon. we are all too consumed with our own goals that we sort of ignore whats really important at times.
blood tastes like steel seeds/ and skinned knees on sidewalks- i think this is about how what is ours is a reflection on the building blocks of society.
i could be totally off on this. its a sort of random, but quite beautiful, song. |

i actually dont think that the first line, "i took the 405 and drilled a stake down into your center" is actually a sexual reference. i think it is more like driving a pin into butterflies for viewing their beauty. I think this song is about a man who idolizes this woman but really the entire time she's making herself seem better than she really is. she "twists the truth" and makes things seem more perfect, more beautiful.
the 405 i think represents, cheezy as it may sound, the path of the relationship. the 405 is notoriously confusing and circular, and i think that the relationship also is showing patterns of going nowhere. about missing the exit- this is only a reference to the carelessness of the relationship, perhaps saying that the relationship isnt going back or ahead; its just staying where it is.
the entire alcohol part is confusing to me... i have a feeling one dragged the other into these bad habits. anyway... beautiful song. its one of my favs. |

it seems to me like the guy here is taking everything beyond literal. and i think that the song is beautiful and really isnt all about a glovebox.
it seems like the OC has cheapened a lot of indie stuff out there. like they put this into the genre of OC pop |

i have to go with pitchfork on this one- this song has great intentions. but it doesnt get very deep-- all it says is they call it climbing i call it visability. i really like the song tho- its pretty awesome |

i love this song. Oddly, but probably not coincidently, this song to me seems so linear. Theres a thread of guitar that is pretty consistent thoughout the entire song. Even the vocals seem in the background. The lyrics are just beautiful. I agree, I think its about being compelled or forced to be a certain way by someone else, whether that person is a lover parent or whatever. its irrelevent. this song is beautiful, and very accessable. who hasnt felt influenced by someone else to be someone they are not? |
