I've actually met Darius a couple times with family in Savannah Georgia somewhere down the line someone knew him. A really nice guy, one of my favorite voices.
This song is about his mother passing away and him having to deal with it but still reassuring because of his faith of her living in the afterlife |

his choice of words and phrases in this song are precise to the feeling he is trying to portay.
"They're burning on the bridge, turning of the lights
We're on the run I can see it in your eyes"
In the sense of burning a bridge is taking that relationship/memory out of your life and not going back..and how he relates that to them both 'on the run' might be him saying the burning bridge is catching up to them and they are trying to fight it, but they can't keep running away bc it's inevidable.
this song is about two people who both care about each other despite differences and knowing it just wont work. |

This is such a unique song...the synth's that go along with her voice make it like nothing I have ever heard. Usually if they rearranged the voice as much as they did, it would sound cheesy, but it fits so well. The violins balances it all out. Of course, about growing up in teenage girlhood and the changes that you go through, and once you've reached an age you've lost the innocence you obtained "now your gone, got your makeup on, and your not coming back." as a female, i completely undrestand. |

Being in a relationship before with someone addicted to drugs, its easy for me to relate to this song. It describes a person who has grown fond of curing the pain with drugs. 'jen' obviously is depressed, and tired. Also, looking for happiness in all the wrong places such as porn, or modeling naked in magazines. my favorite line is 'love is an inkless pen, its tavern, its sin, it's a horrible way to begin.' bc obviously the other person probably loved her and it didnt work out bc of her addiction. and it got him nowhere
