I am pretty sure that Saline Tea is Isaac's play on the Ocean. "Well it is true that the moon can pull it back and forth away from me" is the tides. As you know, the gravity from the moon is what controlls the tides and pulls them in and out. ..and the poster above who brings up global warming or jsut environmental pollution in general seems to be pretty close to it atleast in my opinion. |

yae "eyes like july" has it more. the part about parks and recreation, and car sick vacation and shoes is all nostalgic about childhood. he is thinking back to when he was young with his family because like someone said earlier he is at an awkard time in his life after college where people are just pretty damn confused. i think its more of a frustrated, nostalgic, confused song. |

"snow piled on tables, up on scales, into bags. latenight beer and smoke, too sleepy and awake." the snow, being cocaine. and coke makes you stay up all damn night and not sleep, which acounts for the crazy eyes over eggs in the morning and why brendan is saying "nightime passed me by again." Its about the stupid shit we do to occupy our days and nights, and how in the end it all feels useless.If you get drunk often, you will know what it is like to regret the stupid shit you have done the night before in a drunken state. It is defintiely more of a frustrated sad song, than a happy song. |

Going back to deathcabs first assesment. I think he has a good idea of what it is about. This song isnt about finding the big meaning of life. I think he wants to live his dreams; "i want to see movies of my dreams". He wants to succeed at doing what he loves. Other people can kill themselves finding out what "comet, stars and moons are all about". he "doesnt want to know what you find out", partially because it scares him, but also because he doesnt care. I think this song is about finding your dreams but there is also an element of being disenchanted with the world. since while you are off finding the answers to life "at best i be asleep when you get home" He is going to get in his car, live his dream in a rock band. Because life is hard and he cant figure it out. so basically he is saying fuck it, i cant figure it out, i can only do what i think i have to do. he is inspired. but also completely uninspired. i think thats one meaning. im sure there are others.
