it is, like someone (one of the few people to actually say something about what the song is about) said, about suicide the girl and guy both contemplate suicide and the girl has obviously thought of this more than the guy and is probably older. and yes, in the end the girl ends up doing it while the guy is left still thinking about it, something's keeping him from doing it and it might be how much he feels for this girl. but the whole burning allusion. burning is dying. if you caught on fire and burned a lot, chances are you might die. "today is fire and she burns" the day is on fire because she's doing it, she's killing herself, she's burning herself. but the guy is still alive. yeah. thats at least what I think. |

| well the song is called "here's to the night" as in, singular. but in the text he says "here's to the nights" as in plural. as in it's happened many times. I do believe this is, as max (the leader singer of now broken up eve 6) says, about a one night stand. but in being about a one night stand, a girl you had sex with and wanted there to be more. but there wasn't, and she's gone. just as everyone is saying it's about fleeting youth and whatnot. it IS about that too, see. the innocence of thinking a one night stand and everything that comes with something like that - the innocence of thinking it could mean MORE is leaving too, as max writes this song. at least, that's what I believe. | |

I think it basically pokes fun at christianity more than other religions, but he pokes fun at a lot of things. and this makes him god. (isaac) "maybe we'll live again" and then 'I don't know I don't know I hope so', could not only be him saying it, but saying it quoting other people. in other words, making fun of people who can't even understand their own beliefs enough to voice them. the title "ocean breathes salty" refers to what part of life he actually knows about. presenting actual physical things. when you breathe in ocean air, it's salty. that's all I know, but it's better than you and your religion that you can't even explain. |

OK! This is is from a guy's perspective to a girl, and a lot of people on these comments got really close, and really with all songs that's all that's important. there's always parts of songs that are left open to interpretation. the girl is just like every other girl he knows. in that maybe all the girls around him are cheerleading ditzes, or maybe they all drink and do drugs, but all she does is follow everyone else. and it makes him angry because he knows she could be so different. she lies to herself and to others to make herself 'fit in" when all he wants her to do is be herself, because he loves that. he loves her. but "she'd only do it again", no matter how many times he's tried to get through to her. maybe when there's no one left to follow, that'll finally be the day when she understands how much he loves her for who she is. hit me back with what you think |
