A Silver Mt. Zion – Teddy Roosevelt's Guns Lyrics 20 years ago
teddy roosevelt was a former US president, so he did kind of mention the US.

i don't think the song is really for or against one side, the teddy roosevelt thing is probably a reference to the strong US influence on canada. i find the song title kind of ironic, though, because teddy roosevelt wasn't a gun toater, he was actually the first american to win a novel peace prize for ending the russio-japanese war. not a very violent guy.

canada's not perfect at all though. they've got terrible drug use percentages, one of their provinces is thinking about declaring independence, etc etc. since gy!be/silver mt. zion are from canada, it's probly an ode to their hometown instead of focusing on the US as much as they have before

Neil Perry – shitblowsUp... it's so good Lyrics 20 years ago
they kinda are, older stuff moreso than the new. music genres are all subjective though

i have no idea why they're so not known. probably cause all they did was put out splits and 7 inches.

Blink-182 – Adam's Song Lyrics 20 years ago
god, people are so shitty about interpreting songs. "this song iz about even tho u r depressed there is a lite at the end of the tunnel!!!!111"

this song was probably written after or about the tour they did to promote their album cheshire cat. this was the spot blink was in when they had made it too far to go back but things weren't working out enough to go forward, which is why their drummer eventually quit after dude ranch, he thought they'd be another one hit wonder.

it talks about the responsibilities and stress of being grown up and missing their days in high school. "the world was wide, too late to try" probly means it's kind of too late to pursue other career options and junk, and the "tour was over, i'd survived" is pretty self-explanitory. this is NOT a happy song.

Alexisonfire – Pulmonary Archery Lyrics 20 years ago
trimalchio, it isn't a love song you dumb fuck.

this is obviously about a historical event from 77, probably a civil rights one, that a certain group of people are responsible for and probly still get alot of shit for today. kind of like modern day germans saying i won't apoligize, fuck you, the holocaust was not my doing.

who knows what happened though. who was president in 77?

Elliott Smith – Oh Well, Okay Lyrics 21 years ago
can't offer much insight on this except i know it's about elliot, because in an article in spin magazine they talked about how elliot couldn't look people in the face, and he wore sunglasses and dark coats and stuff to kinda cover up who he was (hende "here's the silhouette"). i'm guessing it was a girl who couldn't take all the personal and personality problems he had going on

Elliott Smith – Happiness/The Gondola Man Lyrics 21 years ago
all of these explinations are terribly bland and unaccurate, in my opinion. it's obviously about a buddy of elliot's, or him just talking in third person, that's cheated on a girlfriend or wife. think about it, i mean i can't really explain the police and death references real well, but "made his life a lie so he'd never have to know anyone".. he was never honest, or honestly himself, so all the people he met were not really friends.

"i told him he shouldn't upset her
and that he'd only be making it worse
involving somebody else
but I knew that he'd never forget her
while her memory worked in reverse
to keep her safe from herself "

shouldn't tell his wife about the affair maybe, so it wouldnt be 3 people? but he doesn't wan't to forget her, but his wife knows what's up, but she tried to forget and ignore so she didn't have to face the truth.

yeah, she probly killed him.

TO MOTHRA666

YES, YOU.

you are one STUPID motherfucker. melody is NOT the key ingredient to music, it's expression and innovation. god damn, i hate running into non musicians who critique music. and if you do happen to be a musician, and if you somehow happen to be a talented one, you've never composed music yourself or with any others, all you do is probably sit at home jam out power chords, otherwise you'd know precisely what i mean. melody...jesus fucking christ. not evey song is a fucking children's SING ALONG!

Radiohead – There There. (The Boney King of Nowhere.) Lyrics 21 years ago
i registered just because i was amazed no one pointed this out.

this is obviously a metaphor for a scene in homer's book the odyssey, where odysseus is sailing on a ship and sails past a trio of sirens, who sing a song so enchanting men dive off their ships and swim to them where they kill them, or sail their ships into the rocks surrounding their island.

this is clearly about resistance or failure to succumb to feelings towards someone, trying to resist or failing to resist your conscience...

"just because you feel it, doesn't mean it's there"
i'm almost positive that's refering to how the sirens' song drive you so mad that you blindly and senselessly throw yourself toward them, even if they're not all you've built them up to be......metaphor for a girl? naaaah can't be
