"This is the day foretold till death do us apart" - when you get married, it says until death do you part. "I've gone away but I've got you in my heart, All frozen and scarred" - he still remembers her even in death "How did you not get caught" - she was not caught even though she did something, which seems to be murder what do you ppl think?? |

i agree with korb and his interpretation. "But vying for my kinsmen!", he thinks she is going after somebody else eventhough she claims she loves him "save hither, Is thy love." the song seems to be about how their marriage falls apart because of the guy's inability to trust the girl. (the reason i think its marriage is cause of "Mayhap a tithe of trothplight"). But it could also be the girl doesnt really love him, but she is just pretending to love him because she was promised to him in marrriage - and she does actually love that somebody else. so it kinda feels like its hard to tell who is right and who is wrong, but regardless, their marriage falls apart. beautiful song |

god, i hate north america!!!! (At least in terms of music) this is the 1st song i've heard of tragedy of theatre and they have how many albums out? 7-8? geez well, this song seems to be about a man who's been forgotten over time. He wants to be remembered (maybe wanted.) there are a few diff meanings i could come up with: 1-he's been forgotten from the spotlight, like a famous singer/actor, b/c of the "His undisputed kind of self-love" line which implies he was full of himself and maybe cocky. the other seems to be maybe he woke up from a coma or something. cause of lines "His face in the bathroom mirror, Someone looks at him" like he's aged, and almost doesnt recognize himself. of course, the aged thing might just be because he wasted his life away. Maybe he's just a workaholic, and he worked so much, that every1 around him has forgotten him, and nobody remembers him, and now he's old, and realises life has passed him off. and in the end, he's "moving/going somewhere" to perhaps find a new path in life. any feedback? |

wow are RumaruDrathas and hugelloyd the only guys who had a song meaning? I think drathas was right on, its about how the world is getting him down, maybe he's been overworked. Finally he gives up, and he doesnt care anymore. So he goes into his own little world. I dont think it has to be in his mind, it could just be him watching tv and ignoring the problem, hoping it will go away (or let some1 else take care of it for a change). But while he ignores it, the problem gets worse and worse. and then all the bridges fall to the ground (the world around him collapses - not literally). |

i agree with SDMFBLS that its probably a close friend that was a girl. I think when they met, she was already with somebody, thats why he wishes he was the 1st she had met. Savvy pretty much nails all the rest. The confusing part about this song is what he means by "evil in a closet", and the only thing i could get is, that he's supposed to be her close friend, yet he's hoping (maybe even trying) to break her up with her bf(husband?) so that he can have her. So even though he appears to be her friend on the outside, he's secretly "evil" any feedback? |

However, the song has the double meaning b/c of the link to marriage as gotterdam hit it right in the 1st post. He doesnt wanna be a "slave" to marriage. its pretty much an anti-war song. Its not so much that war is a job, but its about ppl who go to war who ENJOY killing and torturing other people. (America celebrating after bombing residential areas in iraq??) hence "No remorse No repent". Like they have none of either for what happened. Its also probably about the higher ups in war. Like who control the wars from their high seats, hence lines like "Blood feeds the war machine" and " Soldiers are hounding, Bodies are mounting" as in bodies keep piling up but the fighting continues and more blood flows. |

there is definately a biblical undertone but i believe Time isnt one of the four horseman. Its War instead. but i agree with King Nothing. Although the song is primarily about the apocalypse, the 4 members of the band starting out on their "conquest of the world" is a 2nd meaning. |

well, nuclear war seems to be one common interpretation of the song. however, there is also a second one. And thats the human race is slowly killing the planet with pollution, war, etc. The line "Never Seen Before, Breathing Nevermore" is about species that have gone instinct before we even noticed that they were there. Hence also the line "see our mother die" as in mother nature. and the words "planet dies" as in nature dies. just another interpretation of a kickass song |

well, its about a boy who is forced to think a certain way by society. I think everybody pretty much nailed it (Except that guy who said abortion, wow, he missed the boat :/) ** 1 other thing: Orgasm said : "He feels he's unforgiven because he can't find...." WRONG!!!! he's not Unforgiven! Thats a mistake!!! Society is the Unforgiven!! (or your family, or religion, or watever interpretation you came up with). wow there are a lot of interesting interpretations that i have read here, and some i never even thought of... i think beans has the right idea when he says UII is about a guy "who wants a girlfriend to pick him back up again." the rest we disagree on. I dont think he killed her. Someone also said the light = heaven or something... i dont think so. I think door = his heart, and light = love/truth/good, like basic symbolism, the light reflects those things. the chorus says "What I've felt, what I've known Turn the pages, turn the stone Behind the door, should I open it for you" 1st line is just a reflection of UI as in his hate for those who try to control him, turn the pages/stone he is wondering if he should change his life, should he open his heart to ppl, etc. And he's asking if he should open the door (his heart) for some1. then i disagree with beans about the killing and him treating her bad. I think its the other way, she cheated on him. "She loves me not, she loves me still, but she'll never love again She lay beside me, but she'll be there when I'm gone " She loves him in she says she does but then she doesnt because she cheats on him. Thats why you have the line of her being there. Sure she'll be there (physically) but there is no love. Hence "dead sure she'll be there" in that she is not there mentally, there is no love for him. He didnt kill her or treat her bad. But he's now unsure if he should give her another chance or not? Thats why her eyes are closed, b/c she cant look him in the eyes since she cheated. Then when he says "now i see the sun" etc, he's seeing the light, but my conclusion is that he realises that she doesnt love him. Thats why in the conclusion he buries the key in her and dubs HER unforgiven too, b/c he's saying she's one of those ppl who ends up hurting him. See, in UI he dubs the "society" Unforgiven b/c they hurt him, and here he is dubbing HER as one of them b/c she hurt him as well. If he hurt her, he wouldnt dub her Unforgiven. He isnt the Unforgiven (thats a mistake!! SOCIETY IS THE UNFORGIVEN) Also, if you watch the video of the song, in the end, the boy leaves the girl, eventhough she has the key to his heart, and he cant see her eyes since her back is to him b/c she cant face him for cheating on him. |
