| Dave Barnes – Sticks and Stones Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Great song - it seems to either be ironic or a whole oxymoron, especially ending with 'your words beat the life from me' - it seems to be optimistic, i guess this reflects moving on, looking forward, away from a relationship... but I'm not so sure - like there must be something else to this song. I wonder what he was thinking of when he wrote it? | |

"but you can't paint an elephant quite as good as she." I reckon that 'to paint an elephant' means to make start arguments or fights, or perhaps to be a tease? That definition jumped out at me when I heard that bit. In fact it did so much that I came back onto songmeanings.net just to post about it :) "What's the point of this song? Or even singing? You've already gone, why am I clinging?" Hehe @ this line... Ok "clinging" - onto a crush perhaps? I agree, love this song, I guess sometimes not all the lyrics mean what they mean (i.e. things that sound a bit odd when read but great when sung) |

| U2 – Vertigo Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Ok let's cut this bitching out, you sound like a pair of schoolgirls. I'm a music student and there is VERY little music I won't listen to. I'm listening to this track now... and it's very linear and boring! Come to think of it, I can't find much to like about U2 at all! What's so good about U2 to make them stand out? Why do so many people listen to them? Anyone? |

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be I was just guessing, At numbers and *figures*, Pulling the puzzles apart... Natasha Beddingfield did a cover of it, and it's definately figures when she sings it. Plus 'figures' makes more sense. |

| Good Charlotte – The Truth Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I reckon he's singing about the moment when he knows his lover is cheating/fallen out of love/etc, and he finally confronts her about it. "There's weight on your mind" there's something she's not telling him "But now I say, this is how you feel / Just say it to me, if this was ever real" Hope there's no mistakes in the lyrics, it's my first contribution :D |

I was listening to this track at lunch today. This is such a gorgeous song, one of Damien Rice's many great songs on the album. dontstop, I have to agree with your definition/interpretation of the song. Especially where he sings, "love, it taught me to lie ", and that horrible feeling at the pit of your stomach after an affair. I think I know what he's getting at. |

| Damien Rice – Silent Night Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I first heard this song last Christmas, in an empty house, after a horrible break-up... sent SUCH a shiver down my spine... it's a really touching and beautifully sung track, but it's REALLY chilling. | |
| Athlete – Out Of Nowhere Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I *totally* do NOT get this song. It seems like it's a song about being hit on the head by someone. Or something. It's so strange... | |
| Athlete – Vehicles & Animals Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I saw an interview with the lead singer a while back, in which he explained that the song was about his youth, when he was growing up (in 1979), and about a kid who was playing with his toys, (with his toy vehicles and animals), and about being perfectly content. Ever since I heard that it's ruined what was otherwise one of my favourite tracks ever. |

| Ok well maybe the lyrics aren't all that meaningful (at first glance anyway), but the song itself is incredible. It reminds me of when I was in Italy last year, on my own for the first time, living with this Italian family, seeing the sunrise every morning, going somewhere different every day, "it was beautiful." | |
| Taking Back Sunday – Cute Without The 'E' (Cut From The Team) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| 600 and something posts full of meaningless drivel about whose opinions are best. I agree with LongForBlueSkies - can someone/anyone explain the song and meaning(s) behind it? | |
| Something Corporate – Heroine Lyrics | 21 years ago |

hehe... He almost sung the first 'woah' too early. And the mike gets a bit dodgy around the start of "It was this time last year..." I hope it's just this copy I've found. Still a really nice song :) |

| I'm listening to this song for the first time right now... it's *really* gorge. | |
| David Gray – Babylon Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| LOL @ that last post -> I reckon they both work, and I like the whole Babylon = Utopia look on things. | |
| Something Corporate – Forget December Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song's got a really deep meaning for me - this time last year, my ex and I got back together after a very rocky relationship Feb-April. I remember the moment last October (03), when I thought everything might just work out with her and me, when I walked in on her and her new boyfriend. She kept denying she was with him, and turning all my friends against me in the process, but I was stupid and believed the lies, for another 2-3 months, til December... when I found out the truth. Right now I *really* want to forget December. | |
