hmm...i NEVER got drug addict-suicide maybe. i thought it was something about someone who seriously f-ked up and tries to stop-so yeah maybe drug addict. and at some points when they're desperate enough for 'drugs' or need them so bad-at that breaking point they don't see what's wrong. they go overboard-and apparently some kind of death is coming. maybe the 'laugh as you lie through your teeth" is like laughing at irony of something or in hysterics and laughing at themselves like,"god what an idiot i am" and they're laughing. i don't know - this song is so f-king confusing it's not funny. so it's anyone's guess. i've come to find that music-rock music especially is like abstract art. the #1 meaning is, "what does it mean to YOU?" but not all songs are like that,of course. |

this song is a wierd mix of emotions. i think it's like love for this girl,i'll call her thora-since thora birch played the girl in his music video.so fred loves thora,and apparently it's a avril lavigne's "sk8r boi" scenario- he's a punk,she's a ballet girl,he wanted her,and she'd never admit that she wanted him.so thora gives him a 'i don't want to know you' attitude-hence "misses i don't what the fuck you're name is" . but they're drawn to each other,something's "magnetic" . and he's angry for her treating him like that-and he mixes a hate and lust and love feeling. and somehow "eat you alive" explains that. so the bridge kinda part, "i'm sorry,so sorry,you're beauty is so vain" is almost like an apology for this shit that he feels for her. This song meaning of this song reminds me of both Evanescence's "My Last Breath" and "Whisper". I think it's like watching something fatal come,and wanting the truth.All faults,sorries,feelings,and feelings of love,all that good shit. and someone he loves knows the awful truth and they're so scared to admit something so awful-like a deadly premoniton,but he's telling his love that it's okay,"it's alright" to admit it,and to admit "how defensless" they "really are". and "satisfied" with life(maybe life) in general but sitll missing something;"empty inside". now a puzzling part - and this is probably wrong- but if they "find their family" like maybe while they're dying and they see their deceased love ones. that's what it's like to me,at least. |

This is my favorite Evanescence song,it kicked so much butt in concert. I think this is one of the most abstract songs,but I can interpret part of it.Course,music is abstract. But the 'truth that drives her into madness' is like literal fear of something coming,like the apocolypse(not literally,maybe),which this whole song betrays. maybe she can 'will it all away' by a confession of guilt. the "don't turn away" verse is like not wanting to be along,obviously,and wanting their love to be next to them through the terrible tragedy that's coming. the second verse says this. my favorite part of the song, the "fallen angels" bridge,is beautiful.it's like everything around her is dying. "fallen anges at my feet"-even the sacred things are giving in. "whispered voices at my ears"-demons taking over. "death before my eyes"-uh,self-explanatory. "she beckons me shall i give in"- i think "she" is the angel of death,shall she give into to it? hope this is on the mark! |

I think it definetley creates a picture of leaving,probably dying,and not being afraid,as the song says.And also of 'dying' and wanting to spend the last minutes with your love. This is portrayed in the first verse. Holding my last breath clearly says,and "safe inside myself my self are all my thoughts of you" is like saying that she'll always love him no matter what-even through death. If "hiding in a hollow tree" means,anything,my only guess would be for her love to find her in the land of the dead when he dies to. "closing your eyes to disappear" possibly,the pain for her love is too strong and tries to not be there for the pain,and "you pray your dreams will leave you here" is like hopefully finding her soon. "calling me calling me as you fade to black" is,obviously,saying her name as she dies,"fading to black" is like looking at her love as she dies. I think that's what this song is saying.So sad,and I love it SO much!! |
