Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb Lyrics 17 years ago
waldo0788,
yes, he wasn't on drugs and that is something that actually happened to him. What is something? In my interpretation, that experience of the childhood, comfortable-numb, is a model of the ecstasy of Pink Floyd which Waters describes and can consider it to be confession of the recollection.

I have a page of "Scientizing Comfortably Numb":

Pink Floyd – Echoes Lyrics 20 years ago
Hi ACDCPinkFloydQueen, I don't know concept of Meddle, but I know concept of Echoes. I heard that it is written in "The Pink Floyd Encyclopedia" (by Vernon Fitch) that the concept of Echoes is origin, self and identity. I think it is return to the time when "I" was not yet - Nothing. How do you feel about this?

Pink Floyd – Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast Lyrics 21 years ago
*Rise And Shine

Ohh...uh...maybe flakes, then, uh, some scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes...
Toast...coffee...marmalade - I like marmalade...
Yes, porridge is nice, any cereal, I like all cereal.
Oh, God.

*Sunny Side Up

Breakfast in Los Angeles...microbiotic stuff...

No reply...

I don't mind about 'em, like burying this stuff in...
Oh, I've got a terrible back - when I work, it hurts me...
Do you know what I mean, John?
...as I get ready for the gig.
Hah, I know.
I've got some electrical stuff - I can't follow that, so...
Hmmm, I...

*Morning Glory

...scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, toast, coffee, marmalade I'd like marmalade...
God...what a day...

My head's a blank...
Come on...

--------------------------------------------------------
My head's a blank, though I'm full. :-)

I felt there are many opinions interesting in this forums.

It relates to cheeky_munkee's idea, but I have more idea about meaning of Echoes than I can write here. To sum up, I think Echoes is the universe in the womb.

AeroLed286 wrote: "It has a very strong depressing feeling to it, like the end of the world or something.... But the rest is perfectly heaven." I think that the former is a hellish birth trauma and the latter is a supreme ecstasy at the birth.

Pink Floyd – A Saucerful of Secrets Lyrics 21 years ago
Can the stream of those subtitles mean death and rebirth or Heaven and Hell? Or war and peace? I feel also Atom Heart Mother has like this stream.

"Celestial Voices" lets me associate cherubs (angels serving a temple with the wings). The cover of A Saucerful of Secrets has some drawings and there is alchemy. Cherubs appear in a concentric circle of an original alchemy's drawing, though we can't see it on the cover for hiding.

Atom Heart Mother and Echoes consists of harmonious parts in front and behind and of confusion improvising in the middle. A state of confusion is put between harmonious parts, and it forms a circle. But as for A Saucerful of Secrets, it doesn't form a circle - it is one direction. Sysyphus, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, Atom Heart Mother, Echoes, The Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, The Wall... They, long works, form a circle all. A Saucerful of Secrets is an exception - it is a pattern from chaos to harmony/order.

Is "Something Else" a different world or different dimension? I associate "Something Else" with the word of "Kotenchu". "Kotenchu" is Chinese fables - it means the sky/heavens in a pot. There is a different world in a pot "Kotenchu," and it is the story which a hero goes through pot into there, just like "Alice in Wonderland." It means another world/a different world, the world of real self at being away from work and an amusement of drinking liquor and forgetting the workaday world.

That is, "Kotenchu" is just _A Potful of Secrets_.

Pink Floyd – One of These Days Lyrics 21 years ago
I don't know what this song means, but I know what this song means TO ME.

Children often have crying in the night or have sleep terrors (night terrors) or nightmares. Many attempts have been tried to find the cause of them, but the mystery is never solved.

Changing the subject, I often had same nightmares when getting a fever in childhood (before I listen to Pink Floyd). I was a globe floating in dark space and was run after in always another big globe. The periphery was like weird photomicrograph. Because it looks as if I am going to be swallowed in a globe momentarily, I escaped desperately having difficulty in breathing on account of wheezing. Many people said they have same experience. I and they said unanimously that since we grew up to be a man we got never to have a nightmare somehow. That is an oppressive feeling as if being suffocated or being sucked in to a tunnel. I set up a hypothesis that it is a prenatal memory, birth trauma.

Don't you have such experience? That nightmare's atmosphere was exactly like _One of These Days_. The big globe shouted while closing in on me: "One Of These Days, I'm going to crush you as flat as a pancake!" I believe that is why Songmeaningsuser wrote that "Lying in bed at night is probably the best way to listen to Pink Floyd". Also I believe that is why band used great pig's balloon. And so I feel it is the origin of Comfortably Numb. Sorry about my bad English....

Pink Floyd – Atom Heart Mother Lyrics 21 years ago
Atom Heart Mother:
The album title looks as if it entrusts a free association to listeners. As for me, I think that it is three element of all things - atom as the physical world and phenomenon, heart as the metaphysical world and consciousness, and mother as energy to produce everything.

I feel they aimed at a variety of scenes that may be conjured up in the listener's mind. What I was conjured up in my mind is Gaia hypothesis.
