The White Stripes – A Martyr for My Love for You Lyrics 16 years ago
Basically .. he's just singing how full of shit he is ... people usually martyr themselves out of fear, not bravery ...

Puscifer – Sour Grapes Lyrics 16 years ago
I think the satire of the song is in the fact that people would assume it to be like all the other songs that are about bashing religion and all that. Maybe I'm wrong, but that would be a very clever way to do it. The problem is that people who are belligerent about their "organized religion" views, usually believe that they are mentally superior and arrogant enough to never allow the possibility that they could be wrong. I find this pretty ironic, because you can put the most fundamental atheist and the most fundamental baptist next to each other and when the shit comes down ;), all you see is that they're fundamentalists. Most people on here would project the whole "we are all one" view ... I wonder if you can choose to not be part of the Collective ... or does freedom of choice only extend as far as it pleases you?

You don't really need religion to try and enforce a doctrine, just a crazy desire for power. So I suggest, for all those complaining and "fighting the system" ... stop wasting time on thoughts no one really gives a damn about ...

The Narrow – The Banded Lyrics 19 years ago
Some tongue-in-cheek way of looking at supposed freedoms, perhaps? Waiting for some kind of judgement?

25 Wives -> polygamy..duh...or maybe just screwing around?
War -> we all complain about it...but still feast on the chaos?
3rd eye, the ancient voice..."window shopping" religion according to your pop culture

"Smile on my face" part --> Acceptance/Turn the other cheek...
Broke my heart.... ---> Doing things without consequence
You're famous therefore brave... ---> People that have accomplished often think themselves immortal...funny..the people that cling to their "hero's" fame...think him/her immortal too...remember Elvis?

Tool – Jambi Lyrics 19 years ago
Well...a tiny observation...buuuut if I remember the story correctly (lol) ... Bambi lost his mother...and now, perhaps spelt like 'Jambi' in honour of Judith? And maybe Maynard feels kinda like Bambi when it lost its mother...Lol..I feel helluva silly writing this...but just a thought..

On a general note...spite seems to be a central theme...

Tool – 10,000 Days (Wings Pt. 2) Lyrics 19 years ago
Oh, yeah... Ol' TREX... not really taking you on, so don't cry. I have to applaud you somewhere...you have the uncanny ability to reveal the truth by giving its opposite. You know exactly what this song is not about. And a noddy badge for being a true Tool fan....I might have missed something, but when did that become a status???...before you react, read carefully what I wrote..

Tool – 10,000 Days (Wings Pt. 2) Lyrics 19 years ago
Yeah...I might be wrong on this...but I feel that part of this song is how Marie accepted and loved MJK unconditionally. No shit, but most Christians tend to be judgemental especially when it comes to non-believers. I think she was the only Christian in his life that loved him as Christians should. It's quite funny, but the basis of Christianity transcends to all people...it's based on love. Pity though, as high and mighty as Christians like to be percieved (and I'm pointing a finger at myself here), they tend to forget that ALL should be loved. MJK, i think, feels that his mother, just like him...didn't live a lie. Remained true to what she believed...and it was reflected in how she loved him...

Marilyn Manson – The Reflecting God Lyrics 20 years ago
lol, i've never done a line by line...but check this out. oh, by the way, it's quite ironic, but I listen to bands like Tool, Manson etc. to see what "the other side" has to say. Being Christian myself, I believe (as the religion states) than you should love EVERYONE! No hypocrisy, no holier-than-thou..but I won't preach.. OK! Enough..analysis:

your world is an ashtray.....the more you cry, the more your ashes turn to mud... --> Could this be using the way people bitch and moan about cigarettes. They cry and cry about it, but do nothing about it, so their bitching and moaning only remains bitching and moaning..Not literally "cigarettes", I think the Idea transcends to most other things people bitch and moan about.

do me a favour, if your an atheist. i think you might believe me when I say that religion, in itself, is pure. now I can understand the hatred in the song, religion wise. Even -if-something is true and pure, you kinda will piss some people off if you use it to your OWN PERSONAL GAIN...

as for satanism...it's said that the devil is a shrewd, hansom bastard...he captures the weak and unsure.

satan, and satanism, is where love is not. point blank.

Soundgarden – Blow Up the Outside World Lyrics 20 years ago
Possessions possessing us, maybe. People (including me) sometimes think saying “fuck you” to the world means you own the word…Alas, it only ends up owning YOU. The only place you can destroy the world, is in your mind, body and soul where the projection of it lies. If your “third eye” cannot even see it, you know you’ve succeeded.

The song encapsulates the entire scope of human desperation to rid itself of something nagging and corrupting.

But hey…all the best for 2006!

I just have a question, doesn't the lyrics go:
"Lock all the doors, and kill the light...
No one's coming home to >die<"
Just a thought...If u listen carefully

Don't you think, 'Locked in a place where no one goes' is the half-melon, that is your head? Your mind? Believing so strongly in your opinion that you sometimes feel it's only you that exist, and that no one can understand the way you do. Just a thought.
