| Sara Bareilles – Love Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song first sounded like another lame ass love song for the radio or a vailed attempt at poking fun at love songs. But after watching the video, it most definitely is giving the finger to her record label. Who can blame her really? If you don't believe me, why is the guy giant and her small? He's also much more interested in his 'business' and not her tiny world, shes just throwing a kink into their operations to see if anybody is paying attention. I give her props for bringing a bit of substance to the pop genre, but still the wth is up with the video? It's very frustrating watching directors interpretations of songs sometimes :/ |

| Alkaline Trio – Time To Waste Lyrics | 20 years ago |

The imagery in this song is just so beautiful, classic alkaline trio it took me a while looking at the various versions of the lyrics and listening to myself, but I agree with the consensus about drug use, "And all eyes fix on the death of tomorrow And you found everything you need To make a life complete Completely revolting and they have safety and relief For sale down the street I see you in line every day" someone close to them watching them get a score, tomorrow is lost in maybe recovering from drug abuse today? He's in line everyday so I don't see why he refers to tomorrow other than the fact that today's drug-use will be tomorrow's addiction. The evil things that lurk "in these dark trees" throughout the song really bring to life the dark, morbid undertones of this song and any alkaline trio song for that matter. This song is not as rich in meaning (& confusing) as some of his others, but still a very good song and catchy enough to make some appearances on t.v. |

it's definetely a warning to others with the repeated use of "you" so being about his personal suicide or depression isn't a valid summary of the meaning of the song. I agree with many others here, he sees things passing him by cars, planes, boats all things that are controlled by something (relating to people controlled by their mind, decisions they make etc), he reflects on the past but it's done and over "Lights out right now back then and forevermore" bad things WILL HAPPEN some will be so bad they won't even hurt "Some hit so hard you barely feel a thing" however the other path will always look better, constantly looping over the decision in your mind won't do you any good "And what they say of the grass on the other sides true Too much time looking ups turning everything blue Including me, including the pilots, including you" the color references are beyond me and the lyric is "this robot's marching to the nearest liqour store" |

| Alkaline Trio – Take Lots With Alcohol Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
" Hello what the hell am I doin' here That's a really nice suit This is a really comfortable chair" why am I talking to a shrink? shrinks normally wear nice suits, have comfy chairs...this sounds a lot like a psychiatrist and explains the very personal narration of the song, he wants drugs any drugs and he doesn't care what he confesses "But the pains in my head have almost put me Underground" reference to his thoughts on killing himself, not to mention asking the "doc" for any help although "See I don't know if you can help me or not Cause I don't feel sick But the pains in my head have almost put me Underground" he's not physically sick, but mentally sick... job for a psychiatrist |

I agree with TofuKillah repeating "spinning round and around" like the effects of alcohol on your visual perception. "I can’t get up without your help I’m falling down" so drunk Ihe can't stand on his own. "You can beat it, You can and I can’t live without you I’m moving on without you" eventual leaving the band. Great song. |

| Elliott Smith – Pictures of Me Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I'm going to try to take a stab at it... "jailer who sells personal hells who'd like to see me down on my fucking knees" drug dealer who he begs for drugs and seems to enjoy the power over elliot "everybody's dying just to get the disease" I'd imagine this pinpoints describes a specific drug I'm not sure about the "pictures of me"... maybe those picture booths? He walked in drugged out of his mind and took pictures of himself, now the machine randomly displays them as it scrolls through its local database? He looks terrible in them as if "sick and tired"... |
