| The song to me has always been about struggling through life. Its and absoloutely wonderful song. I really liked Chino's interpritation as well. Granted Normally Ied jump on the religious interpritation band wagon with the rest of yall, but its like midnight here and with my school schedule I cant think straight right now, so Im not touching this with a 10 foot pole till I get some sleep. My simple question is why does everyone nowadays seem to label religious music by rock stars as going agaisnt God and why is going against God considered different? I mean, out of all the people that claim to be Christains in the US less than 1/3 attend church. I mean, between theother 2/3 and complete Bible thumpers, it Really it gives alot of us that TRY to live our lives right a bad name. Also, before anyone jumps on God as the creator of "evil" keep in mind that "evil" is essentially sin, which are things that go against the will of God and essentially hurt him emotionally. | Personally I think its about how Christ feels for people who wont come to know him. In Judeo-Christian theology Christ died for our sins, so technically, if it wasnt for us, he couldve lived. Also in Christian theology, Christ REALLY wants to be part of our lives. He (being God) is omnipotent and omnicient and knows us and just wants us to know him in return. The title is probably in referal to the main support beam of the cross, some theologians theorize(apologies for the redundancy) that the cross wasnt square and well honed, and that it was just two tree trunks slapped together, being round, a tree trunk could TECHNICALLY be an axle for a primitive wagon( hence ON Axle). | |

Especially considering the fact that I thought Dave was talking about New Age religions("modern" messiah) And the cover was the pic of all the religious symbols. Some say their heavy metal, some say Nu Metal. Now I know LP is Nu Metal and I like LP, but their style is a good bit different from Disturbed's (Disturbed has more distortion to their electrics and focuses a bit more on the base line of the song) Now, if all heavy metal/Nu metal/rock/music sounded the same, itd just be one band I under stand. For those of Us that hate Man on Tv, dont go and read his posts in My Immortal, lest we be tempted to take out a contract on his life. Anywho. The songs meaning is about Babylon. Now, I know half of you just when"WTF????//!!!11" but its ok. Ill explain. -"Perfect by nature"See in the Jeudeo-Christian religion people are seen as flawed, and it takes and acknowledgement of this to be saved -"Icons of self-indulgence" The general thought is that when Babylon rises again close to Revelation, people will worship other people, seeing ourselves as God -"Just what we all need"Amy Lee is lamenting this fact, and how close we exactly are to this situation -"More lies about a world that" Babylon is depicted in the Bible(not shure about the Torah) as being part of Satan's mockery of God, hence she is a liar(Ill explain why I say she in a moment) -"Never was and Never Will Be" God in the Bible and Torah is described as He that was, Is, and Will Be forever more, this phrase more clearly delegates that Babylon is a passing thing,and will meet its end with due time -"Have you no shame dont you see me" The Bible says when Babylon exists again it will be hedonism 24/7 and no one will feel shame, remorse, regrette, and everything will be filled with a sick kind of chaos -"You know youve got everybody fooled" the worst part about this situation is, nobodyll realize it except those who trust God and follow His commands to stay away from those sins( which exlains why Amy sees through the situation) and those who follow God will be a BIG minority -"look here she comes now, Bow down and stare in wonder" Babylon is depicted in Revelation as a woman, she is called a blasphemer and specifically, Harlot of the Nations...This phrase might be just more clearly identifying Babylon, and the way her lures turn the people from God(Bow down? like when you pray?) -"Oh how we love you, No flaws when your pretending" the mocking tone here in the first verse followed by the specific word pretending is pretty key. Amy sarcastically critiques Babylon, and then lets her know she isnt real. Not in the physical, but in the spiritual sense, youll see later -"But now I know she, Never was and never will be" Amy lets Babylon know shes onto her, and that she wont last in the long run -"You dont know how youve betrayed me" Basically Amy lets Babylon know at one point she put her faith in her instead of God, and she realizes her folly and is ticked off -"And somehow youve Got everybody fooled"Amy cant understand how she wouldve prefered Babylons snares disquised as pleasures compared the knowing the truth of the situation -"Without the mask, Where will you hide? Cant find yourself, lost in your lies"Bam! I never would have expected this combo to work because all you hear in most had rock nowadays is distortion and screaming.It reminds me of my first relationship,I had a hard time getting over it. | Linkin Park is the band that got me into modern rock and is, by far, still my favorite band. I will have to say that every song has probably a definite meaning to the band, but were written so that they would have personal meaning to everyone who listened. For instance, I use to associate lots of their songs with being an outcast at my school, not fitting in with any crowd, and I mean ANY. Then after my first break up, new meanings as far as relationships went came into play, try having a girl cheat on you then listen to "Don't Stay". Its part of the beauty of their music, its so flexible, you can listen to it in any mood. "Crawling" , "Runaway",and "Pushing Me Away" are probably the core center piece around which Hybrid Theory's theme of pain and escapism is built. This is both reflected and contrasted by the opposing theme of healing and escapism vs. reality displayed by Meteora. Damn! I could write a paper for Eng 101 on that! | |
