| Propagandhi – Less Talk, More Rock Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| this song has been written, in a way, to trick all those stupid macho types that couldn't care less about the message and just wanna dance to hard rock - the kinda people that shout "less talk, more rock" when bands try to educate their audiences between songs. hence the last lines ['all the fists.. ' onwards], these stupid macho homophobes have just rocked-out to a song about fucking other boys. | |
| Propagandhi – Purina Hall Of Fame Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the hierarchy of power relationships can be applied to human exploitation of animals, but also to their own kind. in society we see all kinds of bodies exerting dominion over other bodies. this song has a clear, strong animal rights message, but i think the lyrics are written cleverly enough to allow application to many instances where we see oppression and subservience.. | |
| NOFX – The Marxist Brothers Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| the reference to propagandhi aside possible claims of sell-out by the other bands... do you think thats a knee-jerk response to "rock for sustainable capitalism" or do they actually have grounds to insult the band? | |
| Propagandhi – I Want You To Want Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
sex pistols true punk masters? that is a sick joke mate. the pistols were a fucking fashion-punk boyband who cared fuck all about actually doing something to further society. buy London Calling by The Clash and educate yourself to the true meaning of "being punk". with regards to nofx, i can no longer listen to any of their song written after they made the transition to the political process. they have sold out to the system and are a tool of the democrat party. "hijack it" my ass. |

| Propagandhi – War Is Peace, Slavery Is Freedom, May All Your Interventions Be Humanitarian Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| also, the line "pursuit of happiness and liberty" refers to/quotes the US Constitution and it's message of "freedom" | |
| Propagandhi – Bent Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
i think if propagandhi wanted to stop drinking they could easily... they're vegans for a start. that takes a huge jump from accepting the killing and raping of animals is wrong to actually stopping consuming all their produce. this isn't, however, the place to question propagandhi as people, what this song is attacking is the whole conformist attitude that manifests in the huge majority of "edge" kids. i don't think propagandhi are advocating drowning your sorrows in drink either, just saying that it's no reason not to drink just to fit in with some dress-coded scripted means of existence. |

| Propagandhi – War Is Peace, Slavery Is Freedom, May All Your Interventions Be Humanitarian Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
this song is awesome and easily the best song on the subject.. there is not one throwaway line, every statement means something or relates to a certain occassion when the US administration has made "interesting" decisions.. --Four more years of War is Peace, Ignorance is Strength and Slavery is Freedom-- a reference to 1984 by George Orwell, and how despite claims that his book completely missed the time gap it set out our society is moving towards one that might be found within the book at an alarming rate --May all your interventions be "Humanitarian"-- the USA has intervened in pretty much every corner of the world, to serve it’s own political capitalist agenda. Each time, however, it seems to suggest it is intervening for “humanitarian” reasons – to save the world from “communists”, to protect “democracy” (by rigging elections and coercing people to vote right-wing they are protecting democracy, obviously) --Four more years of pay-to-play politics, power and influence-- the two main capitalist parties are both backed by numerous corporate sponsors that fund the parties in order to have policies that suit their businesses carried out --Four more years of legalized bribery and served corporate interests-- the corporate funding is completely legal, though obviously it is only to ensure that the governments policies favour the businesses --So vote for Tweedle-dum or Tweedle-dee-- both sides of the political spectrum, Democrat and Republican, essentially follow the same neo-conservative policies. They are both corporately backed and funded capitalist parties with interests only for themselves and their big-business sponsors --and a framework of debate narrowed for you courtesy of the ultra-rich-- the media can control how people think by only broadcasting information that favours the ruling party’s line. If people don’t know what’s happening they can’t object to it. The money can be used to buy over the media and consolidate the power of those with it. Only one side of the argument is shown and it is shown in a positive light --and a media that filters out any voice that challenges their power-- The media will not want to lose it’s influence and is perfectly positioned to protect it through censorship --like Nader bounced in Boston by State-Troopers because he don't speak for oil-tycoons and bankers-- this is an example of this censorship working as Nader is against the big-business profit driven ruling class, and speaks for the people. This could be dangerous to the oil-tycoons and others so by buying-off the authorities to send in the troops to silence him they can protect their position and “integrity” --whose pursuit of happiness and liberty demands a rhetoric of fear-- the elite and media give out terror warnings as it is known that when people are afraid they can be made to agree to many measures to believe they are being protected. These measures include things like the Patriot Act, measures that are designed to restrict civil liberties and give the government great control over the people to make sure they can deal with any potential dissent and make it incredibly difficult to reject the government in power --to be the litmus test for viable heirs to-- a test that relies on a single indicator – if you can keep the country afraid and doing your bidding you can keep in power and the ruling class will keep their position --the phony drug-wars-- they have used the “war on drugs” as an excuse to get rid of political opponents and a tool of fear. For example, Manuel Noreiga was a key CIA informer and for years they used to ignore, even help him with, his narco-trafficking. However, as soon as he ceased to serve a political purpose they used the “war on drugs” to get rid of him --the trumped-up rogue-states-- “the united states is good. We try to do our best everywhere” Madeline Allbright. The US parades around acting like the peacekeeper that no-one wants when it is only enforcing and supporting it’s own position --the permanence of a war-economy-- there’s nothing like a war economy to help revive (more cover-up) the fact that your economy is headed for collapse ($3.3 trillion debt.. woah). A war economy is permanent in the fact that there will always be custom as fighting countries will need arms and the like, all that can be continually supplied for by the USA --I feel less hopeful-- the situation has gone so far that after all the interventions in the past have helped to strengthen the USA’s position into one that seems unassailable, a feeling of futility and hopelessness that the situation can ever be resolved hits --and less human-- this isn’t the humane way things should be resolved, it detracts from personal humanity to be supporting this kind of action.. --as I'm reduced to nothing more than cheering on embassy bombings-- ..but it seems that nothing else will work so we are resigned to a shameful feeling of pleasure when an embassy is attacked, as has happened in Africa --as the liars pave their way through four more years..-- all the interventions and politics of fear are measures to “pave the way” for the elite and ultra-rich to continue in power and to continue their supreme position of personal benefit |

| bit aggressive don't you think beergoggles? we all react to sheer brilliance in different ways.. | |
| Bad Religion – Slumber Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| anyone else laugh the first time they heard that line? just doesn't seem to fit at first listen. i don't think he is being sarcastic. i think he means that the things we people do affect history and will continue to affect the world. the environmental pollution will scar this earth for a damn long time and we all contribute to it, so life is significant, in a bad way.. | |
| Bad Religion – Drunk Sincerity Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
"it's so easy to be misled by the savvy gentle guise and like fools we trust the delivery" this line basically summs up how anybody can preach almost any idea to anyone, no matter however against it they would be, as long as they deliver it right. people can be intoxicated with the speaker's way with words and they will agree unquestioningly. [see hitler :P] |

| Anti-Flag – Drink Drank Punk Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i'm torn on this 'cause i look around and see a load of drunken idiots wasting away and acting like jerks, but i love to drink and have a completely stupid time often. however, this drinking doesn't at all detract from the other side of me that is politically active, in agreeance with anti-flag and wants to help fight the cause. i do however know some complete idiots ("popular crowd", you know the score) who often pretend to be drunk thinking it makes them look cool, where any half-wit could tell that the half-empty bacardi breezer in their hand couldn't get a rat pissed. |
|
| Propagandhi – Haillie Sellasse, Up Your Ass Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i know people that are totally opposed to religion but love bob marley and his views and just think rastafarian is cool, not realising it is actually a religion spawning from judaism. it is good to see propagandhi referring to the "amalgamation of jewish scriptures and christian thought.." that rastafarianism actually is. | |
| Propagandhi – War Is Peace, Slavery Is Freedom, May All Your Interventions Be Humanitarian Lyrics | 21 years ago |

war is peace.. whichever administration it is seems to agree. US military bombing of yugoslavia DEMOCRAT US military bombing of afganistan REPUBLICAN why? because it was in the US's interests. not yugoslavia or afganistan. corporate and political gain. and let us not forget, war is a handy little money earner :P |

| after a nice little story, propagandhi spell the point out with the last two lines.. | |
| Propagandhi – With Friends Like These, Who the Fuck Needs COINTELPRO Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| could the "with friends like these" comment be in relation to mcarthy's communist witch-hunt in which the us government offered caught communists the chance to get off or reduce their sentances by naming other memebers of the communist party in order to silence radical views. after all, who needs secret counterintelligence programs to find political radicals and silence them when their friends are giving their names to the government? | |
| Propagandhi – I Was a Pre-Teen McCarthyist Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| get 'em while they're young. that's what the nazi's did. high school indoctrination on an impressionable mind. fuck joe mcarthy. | |
| Propagandhi – Pigs Will Pay Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| in the first half of the song it seems to be suggesting that a lot of 'punks' just hate the cops 'cause they are "the enemy" with no real meaning or cause (..a reaction undefined). however, propagandhi are showing that people are seeing that there is a reason for this war on cops as such (..but now informed). the rest of the song is fairly straightforward. | |
| Propagandhi – Nation States Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| this song seems to be about how the old enemy was the nation-state and colonialism, yet now there is an even bigger threat breeding in these states in the way of capitalist corporations. these corporations care not about the environment or their human workers and often locate in countries with lax laws to get around issues that may not be allowed in their own countries. also, the governing body does seem to have some ties with certain corporations... | |
| Propagandhi – I Want You To Want Me Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| maybe not punk masters but one of the best.. | |
| Propagandhi – War Is Peace, Slavery Is Freedom, May All Your Interventions Be Humanitarian Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| also the chorus runs similar to this in that both parties stand for similar things as either way - whoever gets in - we're in for four more years.. | |
| Propagandhi – War Is Peace, Slavery Is Freedom, May All Your Interventions Be Humanitarian Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i disagree BlackLungFever.. if you look at the democrats and republicans, a lot of their policies are very similar and the reference just sums up that in general they are not making decisions that are in the best interests of all the people, and therefore can be considered to be stupid decisions.. |
|
| Propagandhi – Back To The Motor League Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
'silencing competing messages rounding off the jagged edges' this end part i think refers to endorsement. by having a celebrity [say rock band] endorsing your product it puts your product way above other competitors ('silencing..') and often covers overs the actual fact that the product is a load of junk/flawed and you don't really want it anyways ('rounding..') |
|
| Bad Religion – You Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i'm in agreeance with the religion idea in this song but i see it possibly from another perspective.. the chorus in particular seems to be sung as if greg was god himself.. 'you painted my entire world' refers to how humans have destroyed his creation via wars and waste and consumerism '.. and i wont forget it' suggests that these humans will pay for their sins in hell |
|
| Bad Religion – You Don't Belong Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
'we were different, just like all the other kids' true. being different is just being the same.. the names of people in the songs are people who bad religion really knew tom = tom clement ('along the way'/'give you nothing') milo = milo aukerman rodney = rodney from rodney on the rock (first guy to play br's records) jack = jack grisham billy = brett himself ('billy gnosis'/'billy') anyone know any of the others? |
|
| Bad Religion – Walk Away Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| it shows how in this vastly networked modern society it is almost impossible to just 'walk away' the last verse and in particular the last line is very poignant.. humans are so tied down that they can't just leave things and also pursue their dreams because they are being held back | |
| Bad Religion – Punk Rock Song Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i seriously am astounded that you can argue about which bad religion song would be the one preserved.. there can be no contest, no winner (not least 'cause it just defies the point of some great songwriting) because they have so many truly superior songs that it is impossible to choose any fewer than about twenty when pushed... | |
| Bad Religion – Pity the Dead Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| ..and it still manages to take a jibe at religion (in the end you might find there's no subtle guiding light') !!! how cool.. | |
| Bad Religion – New Leaf Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i think this is about the war and violence in the world, but in particular (possibly) America's foreign policy. if they keep up a policy of agression to other countries it is only compounding the problem as the more they try to 'sort' the problems the more righteous terrorists and guerrilla soldiers they are creating that will hate them ('the old one's turning on you') it shows how it is just making problems worse for them and they are getting a taste of their own actions. 'if the future's only hoped for, we are doomed' i think this shows how the aggression is hoped to be overwhelming and will end without too much of a problem. | |
| Bad Religion – Kyoto Now! Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i totally agree with the kyoto protocol/kyoto now activist group ideas, but bad religion being so clever could this also be about something closer to home? kyotou is the japanese word for the act of starting a new political party and if you listen to the lyrics this idea would fit Very well. 'this mythologic hopeful monster' refers to the idea that democracy is the greatest form of government whereas it is clear to see that it often fails. america only having two political parties is an obvious problem as no way can two different views represent That many people. a good example of this is that John Kerry seems to be basing the majority of his campaign for president on the "I'm not George Bush" front! the 'media parading, disjointed politics' can reassure us that everything is okay but when you look at things 'this world's going to hell' if we don't act and do something about this narrow 'democracy' ('the rules are elusive but our pieces are the same') it is saying that we can do something. bad religion say it best.. 'the arid torpor of inaction will be our demise' | |
| Bad Religion – Evangeline Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| there are a couple of explanations for this song, and bad religion being so clever i wouldn't be surprised if both were intended. one is the obvious jibe at evangelicals that is recurrent in many bad religion songs but another explanation is that it is about some sort of girl or person involved in some sort of self-centred (i don't intend to split up the take) fraud or scam when one person is worried about going ahead with it (conspirator so fine lend me your faith cuz mine is broken). i also heard a view that it might be about brett and his guitar (he often names them after girls) and his return to bad religion (i've seen some trouble..) | |
