Additional Michigan References (my home state!): "A mitten full of fishermen" not only refers to the shape of the state, but also the fact that there are obviously many fishermen in a state surrounded by the Great Lakes. "Out on the farm we'll be Swimming with the mother duck" My guess is that this is a reference to the upper peninsula as well as the Great Lakes, since it's more farms and beauty up there. "Unholy Presbyterians" There are a lot of presbyterians in Michigan. I think it's pretty obvious that he's commenting on the hypocritical church. Also, don't forget about Chad Smith! He wasn't born in Michigan, but he was raised there. He frequently did gigs in my dad's bar while in the band Toby Redd. |

I actually don't care to think about what this song could be about. If it is an expression of their political standing then so be it -- I only wish everyone stated their opinions as tastefully. 'um ya bush sux kthx' doesn't cut it for me. (Read: this is not a statement of my political standing. I'm too young to have a respectable one.) |

| Whoever this song was about (I would have no clue, I was probably like 9 when Dirk was in the band), I don't like them very much. They remind me too much of myself and what I want to change. | |

| Yeah. I can't really get the groove of this song because I've never heard it (fucking shitty download sites), but it sounds like he's just bullshitting for four minutes while only saying "Look, pot makes everything better!" | |

| I agree with you, Angel. I started reading the first few comments on this song and was puzzled, wondering if I was the only one who thought he was aching to tell her his feelings just *right then* -- like when people spontaneously ask the love of their life to marry them. Just a random swelling of emotion in his heart for the only non-stranger beside him. | |

| This song has such a personal meaning to me, just because of how badly I need someone like how the 'narrator' describes himself. It stings, knowing everything I need to get out more than anything else can never be received the right way. I only hope that I will find someone so willing to listen. | |

I love this song, it has really brought me out of the pits of hell quite a few times, lemme tell ya. You all have probably already said this, but I think it just means that you need to chill out and stop looking for things/people to blame whem something doesn't go your way. Look inward and find happiness within yourself. |

"A swimmer who has seen a shark I should really be more wary of the water" He knows what she's doing to him -- using him in some way for sure, but more specifically, it sounds to me like she's cheated in the past -- and he didn't have the heart to stand up for himself (possibly still doesn't?). |
