i belive this song is aout two lovers that have been torn apart because somebody doesn't want them together. the way that he starts off the song with the past-tense ( i WANTED you to know) shows that he is not talking to her directly, and thinks that he may never be able to talk to her again. like he lost his chance to tell her. in the chorus he says that he's broken when he's open, like he's wearing his heart of his sleeve and it's hurting him. he doesn't feel like he's a strong enought person to get her back and now he is sad and lonely. in the second verse everything works about, there is no one left to fight, and now they can take the time to get to know and learn about each other. also now that he's with her he can finally steal her pain away. |

i think this song is basically about a couple that has a fight and the speaker ends up getting dumbed, but instead of taking it hard he/she turns it around and says 'well screw you, it doesn't matter, i need you about as much as i need to get shot in the head' |
