Yeah Paul Rodgers was great with Free too. His label wanted him to call the band "The Heavy Metal Kids" but he fought them on that and said thats gonna be the name of the band. Thank God he didn't name them something stupid like that.

Ya guys know this song was written because of a bet right? He made a comment where he said "Well you can write a song about anything" and someone said "Well not ANYTHING" and he said "Sure you can" so he said "Okay umm...2 out 3 ain't bad. Bet you can't write a song about that!" Which he did. Which makes the lyrics of this song even more brilliant. The man is brilliant haha.

I love this song too. The first lines however do suggest that infidelity may have governed some of the verses in this song. Or perhaps about a relationship that is on the rocks do to someones faults or perhaps not being able to cope with the mistreatment of a past lover and that affecting the relationship.
"Heard you today, that isn't my name, you were fast asleep,
Forget what he did, can I be the kid for your soul to keep?"
The chorus might have been written to comfort his SO. Perhaps part of it is about her having trouble with her past and things she's done to cope with herself and he's trying to say it doesn't matter and we've all done things we're not proud of.
"I've grown to see the philosophy of my own mistrust,
We all have our faults, mine come in waves that you turn to rust,"
"She's losing control, she's coming down fast,"
Thats just kinda my take on the song since I don't exactly know what it's about through his own w.o.m. it could also be about his own faults but I think the lyrics suggest that he's definitely talking to someone in this song...a woman..and I just think it could be his love interest. Ya know...could be wrong though I dunno ha. Great song |

Oh God people will you just stop fighting that your interpretation is right just because you think it is? I'm sorry but the only interpretation to a song there is is what the artist himself wrote it about. You people remind me of this poor hobo who showed up at John Lennon's porch going on and on about how he thinks he wrote certains songs specifically for him. John had to politely put him in his place. The guy started quoting lyrics and John replied with "No they're not those lyrics mean nothing..honestly they're just rubbish to me, filler" The poor guy was so dissillusioned. Then John invited him in for a hot meal. Some of you already got this song right. Here it is taken from Rolling Stone Magazine: 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time
#314 - Pink Floyd: Comfortably Numb
'WATERS BASED ONE OF the saddest drug songs ever writen on a sleazy Philadelphia doctor who injected him with tranquilizers before a gig when he was suffering from hepatitis
"That was the longest two hours of my life," Waters Said
"Trying to do a show when you can hardly lift your arm."
Thats what the song is about there friends. Nothing else. |

Yeah not only is Peart one of the greatest drummers of all time but Alex Lifeson? Man is severely underrated. He's one of the most versatile guitarists I've ever heard. His versatility reminds me of Steve Howe..more metal like but it's there. Prolly not as good as Howe but he's still one of the best alive. Geddy has an amazing voice as well, terrific tone and he can scream almost better than anyone I've ever heard. He's also an accomplished bassist. So yeah Rush are an all star line up. Skynyrd as well. |

The Soliloquy portion of this song OWNS! Geddy gives some of the most intense vocals I've ever heard and Alex Lifeson absolutely commands his guitar during the solo. I can't listen to that portion of the song on anything less than full blast. Absolute ROCK! |

The song is a prayer guys. Thats what Henry himself said in Guitar magazine a while back. He said he was having a really hard time with life and one day he just dropped down and started praying and then this song came to him so he had to write it down. It's good song, but it's one of the worst on the album. So that says a lot. Get the album people and stop judging them by one freakin video. |

^ I'll agree with that. I really love this song. I just got the album finally. I'm trying to collect them all. This could quite possibly be the best post Waters song Floyd has done. I really love On The Turning Away though. It's hard to pick. |

The fact that this song isn't listed under Dave Loggins is why I felt the need to submitt his name. It's kind of stupid that they have 2 people down for having done this song and they don't have the original singer/songwriter who wrote and performed it. |

Actually when I was a little kid and I first heard this song on the radio I thought it was Freddy Mercury from Queen. I thought it was a Queen song. It's cause Tyler's voice was so much clearer back then if you listen to original and hear him sing it now, it almost sounds like a completely different man singing it. Amazing song. And yes for the record Train do not suck, and Train did do a fantastic job on this song on MTV Icon...I didn't think he was gonna be able to hit the last note but he nailed it it was great. I've never heard the Dio/Malmsteen version if theres anywhere where I can listen to it let me know. One of the best songs of all time definitely the best Aerosmith song for sure. |

Yer wrong. It's not about a girlfriend..it's about a mistress whom he's not exclusive with. So he sees her with other guys and wants to shout out "Get your hands off of my woman you motherfucker!!" He said so on MTV. He said the song is really about NOT being able to say it when he wanted to probably because he was with someone else at the time or something like that. |

"You don't know why
They had to go this far
Traded your worth for these scars
For your only company
Don't believe the lies that they told to you
Not one word was true
You're alright, you're alright,
You're alright"
Thats my favorite part. I love singing it. |

I just thought I'd note that the guitar solo David does on this song is quite possibly the greatest guitar solo I have ever heard in my life. It completely rocks my world. I now want to buy a guitar and keep on practicing so I can learn how to play this solo...among many other floyd songs that is. David Gilmour is now my favorite guitarist. Could be the best band ever. I also can't leave out the fact that it's not just the guitar solo that makes it so phenominal but the entire band as a whole the drums are raging throughout the solo, so are the background vocals. It's just amazing. |

I'm not sure what the song means to me. Hey Athlete do you have AIM? Cause if ya do I wanna know how to get some of the songs you've submitted. I already know there was a japan import with 3 of the songs you listed but the 4th thats also not on the 10 track release is also not on the import either. To The End Of The Earth I believe the song was called. I'd like to know where I can go to hear these songs...samples maybe but hopefully in their entirety. I like the album and the fact that there are 4 songs by them that I don't have kinda dissapoints me. You could also just tell me here if you want. |
