NO! the second bit is about the tenacity of the scots, but not just the scots can apreciate. any one can appreciate the history of a different country. and of course being scottish, Idleiwld will probably have stuck that in there to be patriotic and because it will mean something. Us scots tend to be very patriotic. But the history of a different country is not soley for the natives. People study latin and roman history, dont they? thats all history from a different place. and this poem is the kind whereyou can draw your own meanings from it. |

rubbish - roddy is from Carnoustie, so by rights you shouldn't be able to understand a word he says. Have youever heard the Dundonian accent?!!! This song makes you feel sad not cos your scottish, but becuase it uses a clever mix of minor chords and lingering melodies. And a poem. They are professionals, theyknow how to evoke emotion in the listener. It's all public history, kids. A scottish poem and a scottish band does not make it soley for scottish people, its just music. |

im not really into this style of music. I like my indie. BUT i do have to say, this is a fantastic song. Wonderfully catchy, i think it is just great! I only love it cos my girlfriend started singing it to me "charlieface, you just don't know know...." come on, now, admit it! its great! |

Ok, I want to write my bit. I quite like Avril Lavigne, her music is catchy, and I think she is very pretty, obviously. What i dont like is every one tearing the lyrics to shreds. It bores me. Can't you just listen to it, rather than continually search for the meanings? Who gives two sh##s about what she is singing about? It really doesnt matter. It's nice to know lyrics so that you don't look like a fool the next time you decide to make an arse of yourselves in public, but come on, its a song. Stop trying to rip the meaning out. Anyway, to who ever said that Avril is less under the control of her record company, I hate to break it to you honey, but thats not the case. She is more so under their control, if that's possible. Ever looked at the sleeve credits? Do it, now. She doesnt really write her own songs. I am me!! - one word - articulation. you will never get your piont of view across like that. Nobody likes to listen to a ranter, and when you get angry, you lose the arguement. Conterdict - Contradict. It's an image. Greenday have their image. Avril has hers. Another word - Bigoted. Do you know it? |
