This song reminds me so much of the Summer of 2003. I had a circle of really close friends back then and we were always looking out for each other and we had a great time. There were hard times, but also some really great times. And a song we used to sing a lot around that time was 'I'm OK' by Christina Aguilera.
Since then, things have changed quite a lot. We hardly see each other anymore but they still mean a lot to me and that makes me sad. I sometimes feel angry with them just for pointless things that don't matter. But i heard this and instantly felt it was what i wanted to say to them.
I wanted to say i'm not OK. And some things still hurt me...but they don't hurt me anymore. I love them, and i miss them. But i don't think they really understood me the way i thought they did. Or maybe they understood me too much and that was the problem.
So that's what the song means to me. This was also the first My Chemical Romance song i ever heard and i loved it then and i still love it now. It really is a great song and makes me feel all tingly. My favourite bit is 'Well i'm not OK, i'm not O fucking K!' because the singer sounds so pissed off and i like the way you can hear it in his voice. |
