The meaning just kinda jumped out at me while I was reading the lyrics on this site just now. I think it's about a spouse that leave you midway through a marriage. You love them and they love someone else and leave for them. The part where he says, "Once upon a time I was on a mind to lay your burden down," talks about sacrificing for the person. The part about dying alone and going insane talk about not having someone there (a spouse) to comfort you and how you lose your mind because of the loss. The song meaning also kinda fits. It gives me at least this picture of a dude that is a shadow on the sun from a cowboy movie or something. How, alone, he rides off into the sunset...emphasis on alone. Anyway, those are my thoughts. Anyone else? |
