Well i had no idea about that one ^ very well done Cone. I feel this song really shows the versatility of the band. SA shows all that his lyrical mastermind is one of the best, and Tim and Pnuts style mixes perfectly. At around the time this cd came out they were still looking to establish their fan grassroots beyond omaha and LA, and i feel this release really motivated listeners to think more of 311 and expand their musical horizons. 'Grassroots' really paved the way for 311 311 to make it to radios and have the big success it did. Great job NSTPC.

I am confused as to why im the first person to comment on this song. I am not one to rate 311 songs, i feel all of them stand alone in their glory, but i must say this one is one of my personal favorites. First time i listened to it was on the 311 website (311, alt+enter) and i could not get into the song. it wasnt like most of the others, and actually i felt it shared a similarity to eons (another song i had to listen to many times over to love it) and so eventually i gave seal the deal a try, and i started to love it. every lyric hit deep in my soul.. its a beautiful song and will make you a lifelong listener.

I can make a meaning to almost every 311 song, but this one.. this one is an exception. I could start at one part in the song and once i understand that, i move to the next one and its completly different. I think its amazing how 311 can actually pull this off.. it really shows a great amount of skill and ambition.

everytime i listen to this song i get goosebumps. it almost exactly what i would want to say in a bad relationship.. i will never understand you, when will i stop trying. and then SA shows the other side telling hervbut when I look at you it's like praying with my eyes, the feelings are still there but there must be a time to give up. nicks voice and tims chill skill really makes this song really emotional. simply beautiful.

This song is not about being depressed or about a failing relationship. Clearly its about a song writers thought process. With the words staying me slow The verbs that just don't flow Confusing use of time Partial stoning of the heart Waiting for something to start. That is showing how he cant grasp what he is trying to write about. And when he turns the volume down, all he hears is the deafening sound of your heart pound because music is so infused with his life and he cant operate without it. can you hear the void i desecribe.. that really shows how he despises the void-- of no music. its the absence of creativity, he calls it a confusing use of time. this song has amazing meaning and everytime i listen to it i am amazed at his clarity.
