to me it describes a feeling of sadness, loneliness and hate for oneself that comes on, and you don't even know why... the feeling is like some kind of monster (heheh) that kills you slowly, whilst leaving you alive. My fave lines are "and i wait for this train/ toes over the line"... awesome imagery. This album is certainly different from other metallica stuff... but Kirk said in an interview i watched (b4 st anger) that he didnt know how the new stuff was gonna turn out but even if it turned into some ridiculous rock opera... why not? Hehe. I admire matallica for doing their own thing, not just trying to please others. kirk was saying in the movie that it was important to him that matallica didnt follow trends. |

wow, this song is awesome... i can relate to it, every word... i think its about desperation... not in an always-gotta-have-a-gf/bf-or-i-will-die way, but in the sense that you are usually alone because you never seem to match other people's standards. lots of people really don't get what love is about- i would never want to be with someone who is "perfect", i want someone who has "something wrong with them"- someone real and human and vulnerable. someone who knows what pain is. how can you truly know love if you don't know pain??? Hmmm. |

it's about religious people who think they're so bloody perfect... im christian but not religious like that... i know i'm certainly not perfect, but i love this song coz people like that who think they're so much holier than me and can't mind their own business really shit me off. like people who always take the bible out of context. they think they know it so well, and are always like "do this, don't do that" in the name of God, and totally miss the whole concept of not judging others. that must really shit God off too. awesome song. |
