It sounds to me that someone is trying to get close to the narrator of the song and it makes him nervous and uncomfortable.He likes to "keep to [him]self" and isn't trusting of others. |

To me being an out sider in high school isn't as much the meaning of the song as it is an example being used. It's really more like they are telling about being outcasted in life and how forms of popular society are taught to neglect the abstract and different. |

I believe this song tells the story of a man who loved a woman (named Sarah, no doubt) whom he has no feelings for any longer. It seems he's visiting her somewhere after she O.D.ed on a narcotic that must be injected into the skin("why the hell were you shooting up?") and she is now in some sort of medical care, because the drug sevrely damaged her ("and now you're commin' down") |
