This is definately my favorite song from Chevelle. This song is about how many governments and organizations try to keep their people ignorant so they can rule over them. Further, they add in parts of the song where they are talking to those "sheep" who think only in conformity due to these powers. |

Indeed, even the band said this song is about Ritalin and its misuse by a good part of the nation. On a broader scale it also encompasses their views on how we're becoming what I call "a nation of pill-popping blobs". They make the medicine, push the medicine on you, lead us to believe we need more, and then we're screwed for life. This can be seen through many of the lyrics above, especially "Over and over a slave became." Pretty soon we're going to destroy our own biology and ACTUALLY become dependent upon drugs as a means for survival. |
