Sam Roberts – Bridge To Nowhere Lyrics 19 years ago
oh! when i said the part about angst...i mean that the angst is felt towards the girl who's saying that he's leading a meaningless life, not that the bridge leads to her.

what a good song! It fits the Sam Roberts vibe...just dying to live a meaningful, happy life, and trying to get away from whatever's weighing you down. The vid's really good too!

I love it when he says "if this is a race then i hope you come last"...I don't really know what it means but i figure it's almost like, angst on the part of the person who's following the bridge to nowhere towards the girl who's saying that he's leading a meaningless life. It's like, he's saying that even though it's meaningless now, it doesn't mean it's gonna be like that forever ("put it in the past, put it in the past"). And it's almost like she's putting him down by telling him that his life is not going anywhere, so he's telling her, since you think you've got it so together now, i hope you really lose it and "come last" in whatever it is you're racing for.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Otherside Lyrics 19 years ago
You know when he says:

"the ashtray’s full and I’m spillin’ my guts
She wants to know am I still a slut"

is it her or him thats concerned with being still a slut?

Billy Talent – Devil in a Midnight Mass Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is undoubtedly about abuse, and not being able to say anything about it after. But i feel it's almost like the devil in the midnight mass is referring to whatever's inside the person after the abuse.

Who cares about the meaning though...this song is powerful as heck.

From the perspective of someone who isn't religious, this song is still great, and its still makes you think hard about unity. I absolutely love switchfoot, they just have a way of making me happy.

Incubus – Neither of Us Can See Lyrics 20 years ago
This song is brilliant. I figure it's about two people who think of themselves one way prior to meeting each other, yet start seeing the flip side of things once they do -- just how much is out of their grasp, how much they don't know.

I love Chrissie Hynde's voice, I'm a huge fan of "Straight Ahead" by Tube & Berger and Chrissie. But gah...I love Incubus =D.

That's really insightful, dusk_view.

"Yeah I'm down, but not out, and far from done." --

I can relate.

Coldplay – A Message Lyrics 20 years ago
Plain out gorgeous. I don't know about the one being sung to being scared, but i see it more as just someone who cares so much about somebody and who just wants for them to be close.

In the words of Stewie Griffin, I feel so deliciously white trash.

Switchfoot – This Is Your Life Lyrics 20 years ago
I can't believe more people haven't posted here! This song is one of theee most meaningful I've ever heard, because its genuine emotion, and they approach the topic way differently than other bands. I love Switchfoot. This song as well as "dare you to move" and "twenty-four" to name a few, they somehow make you happy to live, make you wanna hold your head up.

Pilate – Endgame Lyrics 20 years ago
Absolutely gorgeous song. What's more, its something you can apply to everyday life. Just reflecting on what's happening, you realize things you never stopped to think of, even though they're right in front of you.

Man, I hope Pilate make it big someday. They deserve it. I love them.

Queens of the Stone Age – Little Sister Lyrics 20 years ago
What in the world is up with this song? Everybody\'s making such a big deal out of it, and I can\'t help wondering, are we hearing the same thing here? Where some of their previous songs had a certain something interesting about them, this one is so bland. He\'s barely even singing too, it\'s more like muttering for more than half the song. I mean, come on.

Lifehouse – Better Luck Next Time Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is awesome. I can't stop singing it. I think It's about somebody who loves another, but the other seems to be pursuing somebody else. Meanwhile, he's saying, maybe you're wrong, maybe you love me -- the other thinks "it's all wonderful" and that they have it all, but really he can see right through to how empty what she's chasing is.

About the son and child thing, I think it's figurative for saying he's an older love (so a more grown-up son) and the other is this new fling (a child). Also it could just be that she thinks it's gotten old with him, and she wants to go after something new.

I can relate about the "but you're over it all" part. Sometimes you see something happen and you tell yourself, "that's not me, I would never do that, I'm different", and so you disregard completely that you could be like that. But in reality, when you're put in a certain situation, you fall into exactly the same pitfalls.

Love is blind.

Ouuuu what a good song. Definitely one of my all-time favorites. The words are good, but the tune and the riffs are just so great.

Incubus – Sick Sad Little World Lyrics 21 years ago
When he says "open door policy", he's saying that the blame goes both ways, so he's blaming others, and others blame him. I don't really see this song as being something from a boyfriend to a girlfriend or vice-versa, it seems to be more of a friend-to-friend type thing -- someone just poaring their heart out to another. There's a kind of despair there too. This, to me, is the sort of thing you you end up saying when you're just not being heard, when someone repeatedly hurts you, and you just can't take it anymore.

Pilate – Overrated Lyrics 21 years ago
Pilate are crazy good. They're definitely one of my favorite bands. I'm from Toronto, so they kind of remind me of downtown, because I always listen to them on the drive there =) I love the singer's voice, and just the riffs, and the way the music is mixed. Sooo appealing -- just like all their other songs =D

Chris Isaak – Life Will Go On Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is absolutely beautiful. Even though one might feel completely broken or torn up about someone, the only thing there is to do is to carry on, regardless of how much weight is on their shoulders. Eventually, the pain which was once so vivid will just fade away and become a blur to whoever felt it. Then, somehow we feel like we can face it again.

"Dry your eyes, face the dawn -- life will go on, life will go on." Ah, so beautiful.
