He's just trying to keep those memories under control ["I'll be quiet to keep you quiet."] but he knows he can't hide the fact he's still in pain and longs for just one more time, he's asking her to put and end to it by saying something that will hurt him, so he can take that hit and finally deal with the fact that there's no chance of fixing the situation. He doesn't want to think about it, but he's just not able to move on, he's stuck on that spot where you don't want to let it go, just because that pain you're feeling reminds you of what you had. Then again, the "he" in that explanation is just me and what that song means to me, I think any single song can have dozens of meanings depending on your personal background, so listen to it, chew it a little and take what you like. |
