I doubt the song has to do with his AIDS or anything else in Freddies life. He wrote it for a movie based on a premise of a character who would live for ever and the scene called for music that gave the feeling of lonliness and pain for living while all around you whither and die. The same as the rest of the album. It can ahve meaning if you put it there but it's likely just a song for the movie.... but it still is one of the best songs I've ever heard. |

If you ever get the chance find the CD single version of this song. It has a demo version that replaces the "White man turns the corner.." part with a very telling verse that seems very reminiscent of Phil's life at the time. It's heart wrenching. |

It is clearly talking about a nightlight (referencing the Jason and the Argonaughts .. as if he read it by the nightlight but never finished it). But I think it is more similar to Plato and the allegory of light allowing people to learn and grow and this light was what was his friend and allowed him to learn and that story is infinate. |

Um... I guess we have learned that they need sex ed. class in Australia... but the hip are a great band, but I find I can never listen to their new stuff. It always takes until the song is no longer on the charts (and the radio is being saturated with it) for me to enjoy it. |
