1) it's not tim kasher that comes in towards the end of the song. 2) he's both a drunk kid and was born a catholic. he's comparing two aspects of himself to each other, because both the drunk kids and catholics are waiting for something... he drinks because he's not happy. |

the yellow bird reference is also used in poison oak, which is one of my favorite bright eyes songs. im pretty much sure, the "yellow bird" refers to the one he loves/loved and that loves/loved him. |
