I wouldn't emphasize on the drug thing all too much, it seems too cliche for the doors to write a song solely on drugs. and yeah the story about the indians wasn't about acid at all, if you saw the movie or read anything about morrison you'd read about the whole car accident thing in new mexico. this songs either about death, or just the possibility of different realities and tapping into them. |

you can't really make sense of any of the doors songs, morrison was more of a poet, and just like any good poetry it's meant to be interpreted as you see it. I don't know about the whole Vietnam thing, I think the line "no one here gets out alive" is just saying that no one gets out of life alive, it's a pretty sick line if you think about it. |
