This was my prom song, and I had no idea then how ironic this song would become to me. This song defines faithfullness and friendship through thick and thin. Needless to say, I find it ironic that the song that defines one of the greatest nights of my life would be one that speaks of loyalty and yet the person I shared that wonderful night with, didn't end up standing by me for the long haul. |

This too, was my break up song. It really spoke volumes to me beause my g/f at the time broke up with me, and I was helpless to do anything about it. I cried (and drank) many nights just listening to that song and hoping. It's now been 6 years since she left, and although the wound is now healed, I still have the scars. Everytime I hear that song, I go back to the saddest time of my life. |

I don't think this song is about a dance at all...per say. I think it's a metaphor for the time you spend with someone you love (or once loved). I think he's saying that even though the breakup hurt him greatly, the time shared together was worth the pain he felt at the end. It's along the lines of Ronnie Milsap's song "I wouldn't have missed it for the world."
This song reminds me of a girlfriend of three years. She broke up with me and it devestated me for a long time. Now looking back, I know that the pain I went through was well worth the memories of the good times we once shared. I still think about her, and hope that her life is every bit what she wanted. |
