| Dashboard Confessional – Turpentine Chaser Lyrics | 20 years ago |

My girlfriend got to talk with Chris Carabba after he played at a Beck concert in NC about 2 years ago. She said it was awesome because she was one of the only people at the concert that actually went to see Dashboard and she got to hang out with him for about an hour or so while Beck played. She said that he told her that "Terpentine Chaser" is a recount from a bad time in and old relationship. Pretty much all of the songs on The Swiss Army Romance are about one girlfriend Chris had. He told her that they were in a big fight outside of his house one day and she somehow knocked a paint can on his car or threw paint on it (sorry, I'm trying to recount this second hand). Anyways, paint gets on the car, so he gets a rag and some terpentine to clean it off...all the while his girlfriend is still yelling at him. The next part gives me goosebumps - He said that the whole time he was practically crying as she is yelling at him. That, plus the fumes from the rag were so strong that he said the only thing on his mind was finishing cleaning up his car so he could make her leave. Picture this: she's verbally assaulting him, not caring that she just got paint all over his car, he's crying, not saying a word, just thinking in his head "I'm so done with this, oh God, get me out of this" Well, *I* thought it was really cool. I remember it because when me and Paloma met, she was wearing a Cat's Cradle shirt, and I was like, "hey, I saw Dashboard play there back in 2001!" That started the whole convo. Man, I'm so ADD. Love the Song. Now it means so much more to me. Hope this clears anything up for anyone. |

One of the best rap songs ever made. Period. If one wants "deep music", then look elsewhere; but for it's genre, it doesn't really get much better than this: Perfect beat, Perfect lyrics, and Arguably the best rap vocalist alive- "jigga" This is deffinitely a rap Classic "Many chicks wanna put Jigga fist in cuffs Divorce him and split his bucks Just because you give good head, I'ma break bread so you can be livin it up? Shit I... parts with nothin, y'all be frontin Me give my heart to a woman? Not for nothin, never happen I'll be forever mackin" Hell yeah! Question: What is B.L.A.B.'s? |

You know, I want to give props to *************M1nu5 th3 B34r*************** because I think he hit the meaning of the song right on the head. I was thinking sort of along the same lines about the meaning but couldn't seem to put a finger on it. Well, thanks, that cleared up alot, I think I just started liking this song about a 100x more! Ha Ha Oh btw, why do so many people that post comments on this site say that EVERY song seems to make them cry? Are you all like HC EMO or something? Wow! This isn't an attack at grayed rainbow in any way- It's just that the main reason I like TBS is that they take weighty or strong feelings and make them sound so lighthearted and fun. In other words, TBS could never make me cry (like I would go and do a crazy thing like that) Ha ha!) but that's just my opinion. The only music in this genre that I could imagine making anyone cry is Dashboard Confessional, but again that's just my opinion. To: Grayed rainbow, cry on, BABE! TBS MAKES ME WANT TO DANCE! : p |

Judging from the other opinions, I could be wrong, but I thought that the meaning of the song was pretty clear. Here Goes: I think that it is about a guy and a girl that are having sex and know that it is wrong (since Emery is a christian band, opposing sex out o' marriage) but can't help "having" each other because they are soo in love. Each partner realizes the destructive pattern, like "We're burning the pages and hurting ourselves with this 'False Start'" The lyrics are soo sweet, kinda romantic actually (not to sound gay or anything) but it's obvious the couple is soo emotionally AND physically attached to each other. They are Crazy in Love-but the sex just seems to complicate things "I wanted to mean everything to you, but this isn't right. You keep coming back disassembled and I keep losing this fight" I think it's sweet and sad cause' I can relate to the song. Sex is awesome, but can change the tone of a relationship *scratch that* can change a relationship entirely and end in a heart-wrenching breakup. Bottom line: I think the song is trying to persuade people to Abstinence. |

| Lacuna Coil – Heaven's A Lie Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I dunno about you guys, but when i listen to this song i think about my Ex girlfriend and how i still have these feelings for her (We had a rough breakup) but honestly, she's the type that holds you everyone to a double standard and makes you feel awful for things while she looks like a saint. Obviously she's not, but you're soo whipped you find some reason to justify staying with her. Guess that's just one of those immature "control" games that people play but i hate that crap. Anyway's about the song: when it say's "your heaven's a lie", I'm thinking about the 'personal heaven' that you attach to the person, only to realize that it's all B.S. - Just my thought's, good breakup song : ) | |
| Gordon Lightfoot – If You Could Read My Mind Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| when i was 18 and about to graduate from highschool (wasn't too long ago, i'm 21 now) I still remember riding in the car w/ my dad and he put on this song and told me to listen to it because the lyrics were soo good, and I will never regret it. I used to hate it when i was younger and my parents would listen to Gordon Lightfoot on the ride to the beach. I never really liked oldies, but it seems as i'm getting older (hopefully, more mature), I'm starting to aquire an appreciation for this kind of music. All in all, Awesome Song! Thanks Dad! | |

| This song kicks soo much ass, I got the cd because of the song "right side of the bed" which also kicks ass but these Lyrics are so awesome. I'd like to see Chris Carabba or one of those EMO bands try to write a love song like that! (not to offend any emo fans on this board cause' i do like glasseater, taking back sunday, and thursday) | |
| Weezer – Say It Ain't So Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Hey, i dunno if anyone agrees w/ me on this but i always thought that when he say's "wrestle w/ jimmy" he's refering to, pulling one off b/c his girl left him or something and he's at home alone. Of course the father part kinda throws that out the window, but hey, i gues one could think that 'Hey, the guy's drinkin' alone , all sorts of bad thoughts rush through his head like, his cold ex, bad father, etc.' NEway's just thought i'd see if anybody had thought that b4 | |

This is my Fav. part of the song. It's just so On Point. Read it and see if you get something diff. out of it.... "have you ever heard the words i'm singing in these songs? it's for the girl i've loved all along can a taste of love be so wrong as all things must surely have to end and great loves will one day have to part i know that i am meant for this world and in my mind as i was floating far above the clouds some children laughed i'd fall for certain for thinking that i'd last forever but i knew exactly where i was" |
