A Perfect Circle – The Nurse Who Loved Me (Failure cover) Lyrics 21 years ago
This is in response to x_nikole_x's post. THANK YOU
for finally seeing what i've been trying to say. It's so obvious that this is about a recovering addict falling in love with someone who for the first time cares for him. He takes it in the wrong way. He see's love she see's a job. Misconception.

maynard say's fucking tornado. Listen to the live versions. I have a plugin for Windows Media Player that slows the tempo without altering the pitch. Listen listen listen. If you listen to the studio version on the cd it does sound like tomatoe, I used to think so myself until I listened to the live versions It cleared it up. Listen to it. And listen to the explanation on the accoustic cd.

Goddamn psycho sloth, I have to say that was beautiful. You should make music videos. I could totally visualize the little scene you just wrote.

Now in response to worldof robots, I understand how you could apply that theory. But think if we took away the minute details of who what where and when. We are left with why, anyone can fill in the why with their own experiece. I thought about what I posted and said to myself what if he's just laying out the main idea. The overall point and we're suppose to fill it in with our own experience. If i sang a song about jumping you could create the rest by yourself. Jumping on a trampoline, Jumping bail, Jumping somebody, Jumping a girl or guys bones. The point is the only relevant thing. The personal experience he had is irrelavant to our lives we're meant to fill in the blanks.

"this song is about addiction, the lead singer said that this whole album was made to help him get out of all the bad addictions he had"

That is complete bullshit. I have every interview involving Maynard saved on my hard drive and there is no mention of this. Furthermore if you listen the the Thirteenth step accoustic sessions he explains 3 of the songs, one of them is the outsider and the person narrarating the song is a family member or friend of a suicidal person who does not understand why they are like this. The nurse who loved me was written and performed originally by a band called failure. How does this song encompass addiction if it wasn't on the 13th step album. The 13th step isn't just about Drug addiction its about every form of addiction. Sex, Drugs, Love, Attention, Compulsion. Think of The pet it's about a parent who is over-protective. Over-protection is a form of addiction. According to Carl Jung a famous Psychologist Over-protection is an addiction creating a feeling of authority over someone. Persuation, Being able to control someone is and addiction, think about rapist, they do it for control.

The live version is definetaly better. I think people give this song 2 much shit. It's not Tool here. I think APC is a safe place for Maynard to express himself artistically. This is a very deep album and if you actually listen you can here MJK's passion towards it.

I think this song is about a lonely patient be taking care of by a nurse. The patient thinks the nurse isn't just doing her job but actually loves him. Im guessing it's because he's alone and for once somebody tends to him and makes him feel better.
Take the line, She acts just like a nurse to all the other guys. He's saying she acts different towards him than to the others. It's a simple case of mistaking kindness for an act of passion or love. And say hello to the rugs topography it holds quite a lot of intrest with your face down on it. I think this is a sexual fantasy he's having about the nurse think about it, if your having sex with someboy from behind and your on the ground the person on bottom is going to have there face on the rug with a clear view of its topography. lol.

I think the song is reffering to a drug dealer as the stranger. I first thought he said tomatoe but tornado makes sense. The abuser wants the drug dealer to move away because he or she is tearing there world down.
To draw out the timid wild one. We all know drug dealers can be a little high strung but at the same time wild or on edge.
I also think this song could be about sex. A one night stand perhaps listen to "your a stranger so what do I care, you vanished today not the first time I hear or the last". And drawing out the timid wild side of you to convince yourself what your doing is right. and the whispers of sweet insanity could be the I love you's or I'll never leave you. Then the climax is coming to the realization of all this person really wants. Run away, Move away. I know my theories aren't as organized here as they are in my head but you should get the Idea

Modest Mouse – 3rd Planet Lyrics 21 years ago
"Baby cum angels fly around you
reminding you we used to be three and not just two.
And that's how the world began.
And that's how the world will end."

This line definetly refers to abortion or miscarriage. Just think about it. "Baby Cum [Sperm] angels fly around you.

Then theres the "reminding you we used to be three and not two. Anyone who has a child knows that there is a Mother (1) a father (2) and a developing baby (3). The baby can live (The World Begins) or die by abortion or miscarriage (The World Ends). It's very obvious to me. My ex-girlfriend was pregnant and I used to say we were three long before I heard this song. And I know the word Cum is right because I have a picture of the actual lyrics as Isaac wrote himself. And the line is actually "outside naked shivering looking blue from the color(s) of the light thats reflecting off the moon.
