| The Slip – Children of December Lyrics

I couldn't say exactly what this is about, other than what I see as the obvious...that birthdays around such times as now, with Christmas and New Years, they get overlooked, and when people say happy birthday, it's as if its a half-assed one. Definitely a favorite of mine, check out the video compiled by Zack Smith on theslip.com, its a fun video witha great version of the song behind it.
I've understood the lyrics as "March is for my mama still winin' and dinin'..." but I dunno. I don't know if Brad would be calling his mom a dyke tho, haha. |

I love this song...the last song the Band played together onstage (until the reunion) but ironically the opening song on The Last Waltz. Just a good, fun rock n roll song. |

| Phish – Chalk Dust Torture Lyrics

Word. At the beginning of this year I wrote all the lyrics to Torture on every desk I sat at. Some teachers asked the classes for information on the "Chalkdust Vandalist"...If I'm not mistaken, this is a variation of a poem that Tom Marshall wrote, the music was added to the words, rather than the other way around. That's pretty hard to do and have the music and lyrics fit each other, but I think they were able to blend the two nicely. |

I like this song for just sitting back on a summer afternoon and vagging around...there's nothing amazing lyrically or musically, it's just a nice relaxing song. Sometime live they got decent jams off of it. |

Yea Mulcahey was a radio DJ in jamaica (or some island) where he and Tom were vacationing to write some songs.
I like the lyrics...to me they describe the duality of advice people give on life and just the overal hypocrisy of the world. Maybe not to that extent, but it comments on it somewhat. Some people preach that you should slow down and enjoy life and then others say rush, never waste the day, do everything you can. In the end, you're left feeling as if you're wrong about everything because half the world feels one way about something and the other world feels the other way, and you just don't know what to do. |

This is one of my favorites from Undermind, I think the lyrics have a lot to do with Trey's feelings towards the band. I'm assuming Trey wrote the lyrics, it doesn't sound like Tom's work. |

Yea fleaaaaa....These guys are proof that just because the radio liked only a few songs, it doesn't mean those were the only good ones. These guys are a good, solid band, and it still annoys me that they were on VH1's stupid list for most annoying songs or whatever. peace |

Good song...uncharacteristically dark for Phish, but I've always enjoyed it, along with "Brian and Robert" when I'm in a more somber mood. |

| Phish – Weekapaug Groove Lyrics

The lyrics are actually "Trying to meet a woman that you move"...and "The End" (Doors song) tease isn't a regularity in this song, just in one certain version. A really fun, musical song, nothing lyrically. The lyrics just stemmed off of a mistake Mike made when trying to remember other lyrics, and the show was in Weekapaug, RI. Part of the "Mike's Groove" string of songs which generally include "Mike's Song" and "I am Hydrogen" with "Weekapaug" closing it out. This isn't always the case, just the most constant. |

Yeah, Chad lived in Africa for a while and Elias (whether that's his real name or not) was a man he grew friendly with. Dispatch rocks, I'm so glad I got to see the final show, and I hope a lot of you folks did too. |

ValIsAllThat:
Yea, jazzy? John's guitar playing is blues based...a far cry from jazz guitar. Know what you're talking about before you open your mouth. Or type on your keyboard.
Oh, and I enjoy this song...I like its theme...it's nothing amazing lyrically, but it's a fun song to listen to. I've always liked the main riff because it's not a typical pop song riff, its a nice little change. |

Mr. Minor was a previous tenant of the apartment the biys lived in, and they kept getting his mail even though he didn't live there. They talk about it in The Phish Book |
