The Shins – Young Pilgrims Lyrics 18 years ago
i had always misheard the lyrics, i thought they'd said

"And ended up the kind of kid
Who goes down Chutes Too Narrow
Just sticking out my measly pipes"

as in, he goes down the narrow chute and gets stuck so only his arms or legs stick out, the 'measly pipes' being the skinny little kid appendages poking out the end of the chute

is it possible? or are these lyrics taken from the cd cover?

otherwise, can someone please explain to me what the measly pies line means so i can get over this mental image i have of a stuck kid? lol

Blue Merle – Burning In the Sun Lyrics 20 years ago
Basically its just about a guy who breaks up with a girl in the summertime. Loosing my mind -> being upset about the unexpected break up.

Cake – Commissioning A Symphony In C Lyrics 21 years ago
The whole thing is a joke. Cake has a sense of satire when they wrote this. They are making fun of how simplistic a lot of music is, like pop and punk rock, and how people glorify it anyways.
Commissioning a symphony in the key of C would absurd, its the most basic key there is (no sharps or flats), and would be unheard of by any good composer. "Victorious young triads" - triads are the most basic possible combination of 2 notes there is, and are very shallow, not rich or victorious by any means., certainly not material for a symphony.
He is sarcastic when he writes that it defies all earthly descriptions. He is just making fun of how the vast majority of people are obsessed with music that has little or no musical talent behind it.
It is an awesome song, one of my favorite by cake,, but you all have the meaning all wrong.
