Virtuoso and Children of Bodom do not even belong in the same sentence. Their note arrangements need a lot of work, and they have a tendancy to be EXTREMELY repeatitive. To be honest neither Matt nor Alexi are even decent vocalists. In the meantime, why don't you learn to play a little guitar, maybe try out some Yngwie or Adam Jones, and then get back to your point. Ya know, it's amazing how some people actually stated what they thought the song meant instead of going along with every opinion, when the opinions vary. Once again this isn't "ratethisartist.com" in fucking songmeanings.net. Tell me what you think about the lyrics. |

I definitely agree with Ishallnotfail9 considering the guitar styles are most definitely different. That and Bodom's note arrangements suck..... Oh yeah and these people actually have talent. Where ever you go though, someone decides they need to try and find some strange failing resemblance. If you're going to bitch find a forum, write about the god damn song here The_Knave. As for the song, it's fuggin' amazing. It really sort of reminds me of current political situations, but I hate getting into politics.

Ok, so I have to say I have been spending the longest time trying to figure out what the lyrics of this piece are pertaining to. When I least expect it I placed "Lateralus" into my cd player and turned to this song as it's my favorite from this album. It came upon the last verse which has always been my personally most enjoyed part of the song and I sang through it and pretty much stopped dead in my tracks when I remembered something. A couple months ago I sat back and watched the "Amotion" DVD with commentaries on the videos. I can't remember exactly which video it was but I had the Maynard commentary on and he was speaking about an original translation of a ...hebrew term? Jehovah may have been the term (I'm not what one would call religous so bare with me here.) Anyhow, he was explaining how the original translation for the term meant "Light". Through random modern translations it took the image of a man with a beard, etc. etc. In it's original term it had meant light though, and in that term it had actually meant love. The light which is love itself as it is the single greatest part that seperates us from any other species. You know, once you go farther and farther and continue deeper into the thoughts which bind us to this mortality you sort of stray away from that idea. Such as in philosophy, after you go too far you can't really come back from there. It makes the go viable and it continues to grow and you forfeit your intuition for the ability to know. After you know so much though you start to disdain ideas such as emotional qualities like love. Trying to define it in restraints of physical attraction and mental compatability......... It's sort of in a way when he describes "I may find peace within the emptiness. How pitiful." Trying to find the holes and fill them with the simple complacency you can find with that standard human running in the lines of "physical attraction and mental compatability". And that it's pitiful to fill your life with this and live it that way. That the true concept of "Love" is the greatest thing imaginable.
This song, is about learning to love. Not to abide by the standards you find through the depths of human breaches. In the end "Before I pine away" love is all that really matters.

Of course persons like Kozi get undermined, though I've yet to hear Eve of Destiny's music. I guess if you want to get technical on vocals Hayato of Duel Jewel has really amazing vocals. But it doesn't really matter because the fact is the music was completed and sounds amazing in all of it's cases. People are not the music, they just create it. |

What once was "Vacant" has become an extremely amazing song. Definitely another great revamp amongst all the others which compose the cd. Something is really different in this song. The emotion in the music is fluttering about. There's an interesting vibrance in the whole of it that I can't define. On another note, those of you who haven't pro-ordered BUY THE DAMN CD ON NOVEMBER 2ND!!!!!!!!!!! *ahem* Not meaning to be too urging, but "just do it". (c) Nike |

First off, Rocketqueenz if you're going to blame someone for quote on quote "fucking up" a song, at least know what the fuck you're talking about. After all since Billy Howerdel composes the music and Maynard only writes the vocal melodies/lyrics and in this case they altered a piece only. With that note, I would just like to state once more that this is not a saddened song and I really don't notice how everyone is seeing it this way. There is a purpose and a motive (hint: eMOTIVE) behind the covering of the songs which are to appear on this album. Stating something has to be done, and we are the ones whom have to do it. Urging people forward to be more knowledgable and independant. To strive and work towards the goal of a better "country" in this case. It is good to see there are people sticking to the original in it's happy and unified presentation. Do not debase the song without means though considering these artists are more talented than 90% of musicians present in the world today. No severely dry or repitituous melodies. The harmonic quality to all of their pieces. This song works more for inspiration of fighting for a goal or purpose more than the first as it was more pacifistic. So obviously we can look at this with many different opinions, yet the song itself promotes the acceptance of other opinions and not to so rashly and harshly act. Think on it for a bit, I can't say how emotion invoking this version of the song is. Altered from the light, melodic piano piece to a heavy, slow, drawn out piece with a steady progression. Diverse opinions are quite nice to view, uneducated opinions are bothersome and demoting of the persons who write them. |

I also agree that this was not on Mer De Noms since I've owned said album since a week after it's release. The cure is fairly decent, Ozzy is "interesting". A Perfect Circle is undeniably the most significant thing ever to happen to music as we know it. So by placing such songs in the hands of their past line up inevitably lead to a work of dual compositional art hardly rivaled. Have fun everyone. |

This song is absolutely awe inspiring. Their rendition is absolutely amazing, thank you very much Billy for rewriting the song and presenting it in such an inspiring manner. (B.T.W. I must say it was a most excellent choice on the cover art as well.) Excellent move with the echo/chorus effect (common APC use) in the background on the guitar. I feel this is all I should leave for this moment though, so in the meantime everyone take care. I also agree with the "before Novemeber 2nd" statement, but I'm sure there is a reason. Such as with the anti-Bush recomendation of reviews and such, incase he may just get re-elected due to the fact people can't see that frigging Yo-noid would make a better president than Bush. With that sentiment, listen to this song, there should be no regret unless you're incompitent. |

Well now, for note to those whom have posted so far. Open up your jewel cd case containing to booklet to this CD and look through it and at a certain place it has an "In memory of" bit. So it is my perception that this song is sort of a memorial for definition of their passing away. Sort of displaying a spiritual transcension. You could almost look at it from a existentialist point of view. The uncertainty or dissipation of the soul after death. The vanishing could also be part of a memory, through eventual circumstances of being forgotten to physical humanity. (B.t.w. you do not need narcotics to bring yourself to a higher understanding.) So in basis I stand by the recognition of spiritualist standpoint on death and the devotion for those ones whom were loved in life but have now transcended. (Also b.t.w. Melange, I partially agree with you. Seeing this song performed live and feeling the vibrations of this absolute work of art running through you and most excellent and can not be replaced.) Thanks for you time everyone. |
