| Joan of Arc – Post Coitus Rock Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| Joan of Arc – White Out Lyrics | 19 years ago |
in the room the women come and go, talking of... a slightly altered line taken from 'the love song of j. alfred prufrock' by ts eliot. not sure how it fits within this context, but both the poem and the song are wonderful. |
| Ani DiFranco – Sorry I Am Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| four words: falling out of love. | |
| Cap'n Jazz – Ooh Do I Love You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
all the lifeforms in the world are same; humans feign superiority when really they're frightened and ignorant of other life, looking through the bars at reptiles and turning back to primal insticts and the theory of natural selection - survival of the fittest. it's the musings of a genius, but i'm sure there is something else in there between the lines. i think both mike and tim are quite shy, sometimes performing as a musician makes them feel like a monkey doing tricks in a cage. they can identify. we're all the same. |

| Mates of State – Uber Legitimate Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Agreed 100%, it's an awesome song by a brilliant band. I have to say this is my favourite mates of state album. x |
| Dallas Green – In The Water, I Am Beautiful Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This song reminds me of losing touch with someone you love very much, struggling to keep them but finding it hard because of not wanting to give too much of yourself away. "Three months equals eternity" it seems like a long time to be apart from someone, and it means the world to their relationship. I probably have the intentions of dallas all wrong here, but that's how I relate to it. | |
| Tori Amos – Twinkle Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Exactly. There's always hope even in the worst of times, "no matter what she's got in her right dresser tied... i know she's watching that star" |
| Regina Spektor – Ode to Divorce Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I assumed she was talking about all the legalities of getting a divorce, all the settlements of who gets the house, and who gets the money.. and playing off the guilt of the partner that's left her. | |
| Underoath – Wrapped Around Your Finger (The Police cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This would be an absolutely incredible song if Underoath had written it, but hearing the original first makes it sound a bit...lame. However, I think they've adapted it to their sound pretty well, and yeah, I agree with calamity on dallas' personal interpretation of the song. | |
| Modest Mouse – Gravity Rides Everything Lyrics | 20 years ago |
"everything will fall right into place" the whole album talks about god and "greater forces" so this song says you have to trust them, like many you have said, not question it... just accept that gravity is there to pull you back where you belong. |
| Glassjaw – Motel of the White Locust Lyrics | 20 years ago |
hahaha brilliant. emiLydafodiL said it all. there's a definate theme in GlassJAw songs about calling women whores, possibly because daryll has had so many bad experiences. A lot of the time, singers/songwriters sing as other people and take on different personas, take Kate Bush for one, I can see Daryll doing that for the sake of irony. As for the song, I think someone here should attempt to desipher it rather than getting hung up about domestic abuse. |
| Emanuel – Make Tonight Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Obviously about lust, and sex. And you know it's only sex, and in that way you start to hate yourself for letting yourself get used. | |
| Frou Frou – Must Be Dreaming Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly dooreatoe, the girlfriend comments were way too harsh... songmeanings can be personal interpretations to. This song is beautiful. It's obviously about falling in love. frou frou = awesome. |
| Jeremy Enigk – Lewis Hollow Lyrics | 21 years ago |
this song is so beautiufl, it's unreal. all jeremy's lyrics sound like a fairytale, or a dream. |
| Modest Mouse – The View Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song is brilliant!! His singing style definately influenced Gerard Way at some point, with the random screaming. Yep. wonderful song. the whole album is great. x |
| Modest Mouse – Float On Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This is an awesome song, and I'm really loving the new album :) Yep, definately a feel-good song about the fact that things have a way of working themselves out on their own. x |
| Sherwood – The Push Game Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I can relate to this song so much... to me, it could be about somebody who really cares about somebody who lives far away, and they can only communicate through letters. and he knows it's not good for him to be jealous everytime she talks about somebody else, or to obsess over someone so far away, so he wonders if he should forget her and move on. x |
| Don't Look Down – Wake Me Lyrics | 21 years ago |
"All I've this time I've missing someone who didn't care..." It's all about kidding yourself and living in the past... hoping that things go back to the way they were, but finding that it takes all the energy you have just to maintain the interest and stop them from walking out on you completely. Yes... this song rings a lot of bells. |
| Sunny Day Real Estate – 48 Lyrics | 21 years ago |
anyone know if it's a follow on from 47? it sounds like it...the lyrics have similarities. |
| Sunny Day Real Estate – 47 Lyrics | 21 years ago |
The imagery in this song is beautiful. And I would guess you're right about thinking that she's too good for him, because every description is glorified to make her seem like... royalty. "hair of gold" "painted picture prize" |
| Jimmy Eat World – For Me This Is Heaven Lyrics | 21 years ago |
this song..... i don't want to analyse it. sometimes you just have to appreciate songs for what they are, and just enjoy them. they're too special to take apart. i was desperate to see jimmy eat world this march, but someone messed up my order so now it doesn't look like i can.... |
| Further Seems Forever – Insincerity As An Artform Lyrics | 21 years ago |
ahh i can't believe i won't be able to see them play live with jason........ ah well. i'm sure jon will still do an awesome live show. AND this song is incredible. really powerful vocals. |
| New Found Glory – The Story So Far Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Yus. Nothing compares to this song. "a coincedence that you look like her from afar" kind of like seeing faces in a crowd, when someone's just died. constantly playing on his mind. |
| Glassjaw – El Mark Lyrics | 21 years ago |
"To keep this body sober, I show my life for all to see." I think he's talking about his songs... writing about the way he feels is a form of therapy, rather than escaping with alcohol... fucking awesome song! i love the intro most...."who the fuck wants to live forever?" stunning. x |
| Coheed and Cambria – Time Consumer Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| who else thinks the accoustic version fcking rox00rs? | |
| Coheed and Cambria – Time Consumer Lyrics | 21 years ago |
damn! Aleezy said it all. :( |
| Lene Marlin – Flown Away Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I think it's about a near death experience. Maybe lying in a coma, and you feel like you shouldn't be there. It's such a beautiful song. "I've flown too high on borrowed wings" |
| Lene Marlin – So I See Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This has to be something she's experienced, I think it's a boyfriend that's cheated on her, and she found out the truth from someone else. | |
| Lene Marlin – Unforgivable Sinner Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Yeah, I agree with all of these things. I've always thought it was about murder, and the guilt that eats this person up each day. "someone cries and you're to blame" |
| Lene Marlin – Maybe I'll Go Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This is my my favourite song by her! I think she's lost some sentiment in her newer stuff, but maybe that's because I had such high expectations. She still has a lovely voice! :) Anyway... this song... well, I actually related it to a book I read a while back, the situation the main character goes through in the sequels to "flowers in the attic". what does everyone else think? |
| Dashboard Confessional – The End of an Anchor Lyrics | 21 years ago |
hm... this song's definately about second chances one way or the other. i always believed it was about a girl, and he'd made a mistake and now he's dying to prove himself again. the guilt's eating him up because she/they/whoever didn't take revenge for whatever he did. "They'd carry them off, and hobble their legs For lesser offenses, and how I have harmed you And still you allow me to walk free of pain Though I punish myself" |
| Lene Marlin – Playing My Game Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Yeah. I think it relates quite closely to a broken friendship too... But I think she's also ashamed of something she's done... but something she can't help. "Don't hold me with your eyes, the light in them i cannot see, no need to blind me" - she feels guilty for something she's done, but is trying to leave and move on. But before she goes, she's trying to explain. | |
