| Jimmy Eat World – Clarity Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'll take your words as if you were talking to me. So say what I know you'll say and say it through your teeth. Now, in the deep and down, your heart moves. Now in the deep and down, I don't know how, but I know I want out. Wait for something better. Will I know when it can be us? Wait for something better. Maybe that doesn't mean us. Wait for something better. I should know it's not enough. Pull one excuse from another. And with pride keep every failure in. And with pride hold on to your thinking. Now in the deep and down your heart moves. Now in the deep and down, I don't know how, but I know I want out. Wait for something better. Will I know when it can be us? Wait for something better. Maybe that doesn't mean us. Wait for something better. I shouldn't, it's not enough. Pull one excuse from another. This time it means stop. Pull one excuse from another. This time it means us. Wait for something better. Will I know when it can be us? Wait for something better. Maybe that doesn't mean us. Wait for something better. I shouldn't, it's not enough. Pull one excuse from another. This time it means us. |

| The Zutons – Valerie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
agreed with both above. AW changes the whole song and though her voice is butter, the original has a certain vitality and unavoidable catchiness. song's about loss and desire to mend the damage distance has done. or something. |
| The Album Leaf – Airplane Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song reminds me that everything is going to be just fine. | |
| Rainer Maria – Made In Secret Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| mm. | |
| Braid – Katykat Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this one goes on the repeat list. | |
| Mary Elizabeth Mcglynn – You're Not Here Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| the rhythm to this song completely reminds me of some song from the 80s.... i can't tell if it's The Cure or U2... but it is driving me to the tops of the wall right this minute. | |
| The Rembrandts – Just The Way It Is, Baby Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this song was stuck in my head and i couldn't think of title or artist; the refrain just looped in my head. quick search on letssingit.com and came up with Remb's (shock). thank fuck for bands who title their works appropriately. |
| Spitalfield – Look To The Stars Lyrics | 19 years ago |
well. that clears up my five years of wondering exactly what the lyrics were. thanks jack! |
| My Morning Jacket – Wordless Chorus Lyrics | 19 years ago |
my friend sent me this song with the wrong label. for the longest time i thought the title was Dondante. hrm. one of the best songs to come out in the last couple years. |
| The Most Serene Republic – Relative's Eyes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think these lyrics are a bit more accurate. Either way, I am sickly addicted to this song. Sad they don't come around midwest US often. |
| The Most Serene Republic – Relative's Eyes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
These words I write them For regards to the ink I can formulate ideas and thoughts Before I can think. All we need is a war, boys Or else everything is right here - something to grab for. What does the brain compare with the heart? It's a good day to find a surprise But luckily enough every day I find, Find (one) in your personal space. Bishop Keep to the skies, keep to the skies. |
| The Most Serene Republic – You're a Loose Cannon McArthur...But You Get the Job Done Lyrics | 19 years ago |
stupid or not, this song is toe-tappa-rific. and i'll need a moment to reflect on a meaning here, if any. |
| Hey Mercedes – Unorchestrated Lyrics | 19 years ago |
fuck. this song hurts and yet it still forces a smile. anyone else feel heartbreak listening to Braid or HM? |
| Hellogoodbye – Oh, It Is Love Lyrics | 19 years ago |
the ver. that i have comes up as: "Hellogoodbye - Oh! It Is Love (Banjo Song) ((KUCI Live))" maybe that helps. |
| Hey Mercedes – Bells Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i took this song to heart when a girl that i liked was swept from beneath me. the guy, a so-called friend, had a ton of other girls he was *into* (i.e. inside of). everyone saw it but her and she held it against me when i tried to confront him in front of her. the opening lines (among others) really do it for me. "is this the best you have to offer us? you genius, your hair mussed" you're lying to this girl with every kiss while you still reek of the girl you were banging just a minute ago. fuck! what an emotional song. love it. |
| Braid – The New Nathan Detroits Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"and you sell and you sell with your heart so you can make a few bucks and lose a few friends and this is the stuff that makes you and it will be the same that breaks you" that's so key. i think anyone who tries their hand at writing // being in a band // artistic can relate to this. you want to stay true to yourself and what you believe.... but that is often not what gets mainstream attention (i.e. the paycheck). fuck. braid is so honest and brilliant it hurts. |
| Sunny Day Real Estate – Pheurton Skeurto Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| just checked TEN's 'Exchanging Two Hundred'. You're right on the dot, friend. fun homage. | |
| Coldplay – Sparks Lyrics | 19 years ago |
muscle4hire has it spot-on. and i felt the same way as silver (about WC). i think that movie depictedthe way that song is supposed to feel though, unfortunately, the movie ends on a happier note while this song just ponders what could've been. |
| The Guess Who – These Eyes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
saw the film, Stay, which had short clips of the beginning of this song. Reminds me of how much greater a movie can make a song (in your mind). this one comes straight from the heart. fab. |
| Braid – This Charming Man (The Smiths cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| yeah. the braid version makes you think they created the song themselves. | |
| Braid – A Dozen Roses Lyrics | 19 years ago |
while at a city on film show last fall, bob ended the set with an ambient, mostly a cappella cover of his own song. i've not been more amazed in my life. oh the tingles. |
| Paris Texas – Das Wolf Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| goddamn this is great. | |
| Braid – Garner Hall Music Room Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| this is exactly the type i couldnt manage to listen to whenever braid was 'alive'. and now i sock my palm damning myself for shunning beauty. | |
| Ted Leo and the Pharmacists – Little Dawn Lyrics | 20 years ago |
'stretch out your legs' is not a sexual reference. that's what you do when you get out of the car at the gas station in the middle of a long road trip or, what you do when you've been sitting at a bar all night drinking being a wallflower and someone grabs you by the hand and says "let's dance". this is a 'carefree, stop your worrying' song. |
| The J. Geils Band – Must of Got Lost Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| it is absolutely disgusting there's no comments here. geils has arguably the best intro to a song ever conceived. i feel it's quite straight forward the point of this mess so i'll skip over sorting it out. | |
| The Most Serene Republic – Proposition 61 Lyrics | 20 years ago |
this song overshadows everything productive you think you've ever done...it makes you feel that we have all wasted every moment and just.... yeahp. TMSR is amazing. |
| The Troggs – With A Girl Like You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
this song is self-explanatory. but it really is one of my favorite songs. |
| The City on Film – Secret Santa Cruz (Lifter Puller cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| they play this so wonderfully live | |
| Dovetail Joint – Level on the Inside Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| good call. this is a fantastic song, one of my a/t faves. | |
| Say Anything – Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| this song was put on a cd for me by a friend. i played it at work not knowing what i was up for. i got the strangest looks indeed. | |
| Say Anything – Woe Lyrics | 20 years ago |
"They invented music" sure thing, kid. ya know, even the most celebrated bands have influences to draw from. the Bs were around to inflict a lot of change in what appealed to music fans everywhere. but, as chapman proved, they were still human. |
| Paramore – Never Let This Go Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| heh... but then you realize.... f***.... i live in Tennessee.... | |
| The Promise Ring – A Picture Postcard Lyrics | 20 years ago |
if you check every so often, you can find a TPR fan on ares/limewire/bearshare etc. that has a lot shared. how about posters? i don't suppose they sold posters at their old shows, hmm? |
| The Promise Ring – Red & Blue Jeans Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| TPR has it right.... "nothing feels good" | |
| Mae – Embers and Envelopes Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| are they not? I wondered that myself... because they give major props to God on their albums and well, because I'd heard it thru the rumor mill before. If not, I'm glad. Its prejudice I know, but bands that proclaim "we're christian rock" annoy me. :-\ | |
| OutKast – ATLiens Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| this is such a f*ing cool song... and it came out 10 years ago... these fellas really have an ear for music with longevity (hey ya was written back in the 90s as well) | |
| Fall Out Boy – Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i noticed this too while reading through the lyrics and then the interps. from others on SM. I don't think its a hatred for fans nor a slap in the face... it's more FOB calling out the faux-fans turning FOB into something they don't want to be. As has been said, they aren't trendsetters or hollywood-bound... they're just a band having a good time. | |
| Death Cab for Cutie – Company Calls Lyrics | 20 years ago |
it could be an online relationship, though... it could also be long-distance... when you only see someone twice a month, you use any means possible to stay in contact with them. |
| Fiona Apple – Extraordinary Machine Lyrics | 20 years ago |
im hooked up to audioscrobbler.com which takes the songs you play and compiles them by who/which songs you listen to most often (and you can find people who listen to the same genre as you do and find new bands to try). at any rate... i checked out fiona and found this song as her most listened to... and hadn't ever heard of it. Im not smart enough to cut through her lyrics and decipher them, but i have to applaud her writing... it's terrific and something to aspire toward. free fiona! |
| Don't Look Down – Wake Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| gotta agree there... its a naively hopeful song that touches home quite well. however, i can't help but smile at the ridiculousness of lost love... what a disease. | |
| Spitalfield – Gold Dust Vs. State Of Illinois Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| scratch that... i meant "put 'gold dust vs....' on the album twice" | |
| Spitalfield – Gold Dust Vs. State Of Illinois Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| yeah, they put 'what were you thinking' on the album... twice. pffft (plus 2 other errors on title names)... that's so awful... makes me cringe cause i love S'field. | |
| Dropkick Murphys – Kiss Me, I'm Shitfaced Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| heh heh... always a tradition at our soirees | |
| Spitalfield – Building a Better City by Design Lyrics | 21 years ago |
(lyrics look great, thanks stray) this song sounds very autobiographical.... 'i knew a who was great... but we went on tour and i didn't see you for awhile. i came back to town, looked you up and now its all wrong. you're different, your crowd's different... and it's just my luck' def the most catchy and melodic song on the album... tho lyrical depth is missing. that's fine..still love The 'Field! |
| Tears for Fears – Head Over Heels Lyrics | 21 years ago |
elitest what? this has been a tame thread in comparison to what's out there, darling. i share your sentiments for 'elitests'.... but really i think you have us pegged wrong... when i use this site, it's to get the lyrics and learn about wtf other think the song means. p.s. i was just curious if anyone else had the version of this song with the faux-live crowd cheering at the end.... or if there are other copies out there. |
| Daft Punk – One More Time Lyrics | 21 years ago |
::chuckles:: maybe he/she was rolling from the rave they just got back from... at any rate... i first heard this song when i was working, geez, 5 years ago. It came on as a video on Mtv... and my friends and i were really into the song. we were talking about how cool the video was... and then it came on again. and again. and again. and then once more. It played 5 straight times before anything else came on. no commercials. no interruptions. we all thought it was twilight zone-ish... because, well, that doesn't happen. Any way, still a great song to turn up loud. |
| Superdrag – Sucked Out Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| hahaha... i can see the wedding singer idea. that's a marvelous idea if that was his intention. this is one of the better songs of that period. its not deep or intesely meaningful, but its so damn fun to listen to. makes me wanna dance in place. | |
| Spitalfield – You Can't Stop Lyrics | 21 years ago |
*correction* I've been thinking how to tell you off Why do you forget everything i say? How can i always find the time to spend with you While you focus everything on me? This time, don't close your eyes And take your time It's your time I've been thinking of this for too long Who knows what to say now? If this is getting over him from now on Honestly, you're not You call and ask me for the time (its almost two) You think you'd just look at your watch Why can't you forget everything you thought you knew? And stop pretending its the truth ------------- p.s. tip-top song. |
| Don't Look Down – Fast Forward Lyrics | 21 years ago |
albeit the lyrics are overly simple... its got a catchy beat these guys any good live? |
| Mae – This Time Is The Last Time Lyrics | 21 years ago |
agreeing with -resistance-... that's definately sarcasm. its like saying 'g'head and continue to not own up to how you've led your life thus far and see where it gets you'. this song's pretty great, as are most songs on this album. i read a post by a user on some other site that these guys are a christian rock band. that true? |
