Rammstein – Amerika Lyrics 21 years ago
Thankyou, Ladymage. I take back my statement that the number of Americans not supporting growth is negligible. Its a sigh of relief to see someone like you. :)

Rammstein – Amerika Lyrics 21 years ago
Americans, by all means convince yourselves that this song is about the spread of American culture. Convince yourself that your growth is positive. Convince yourself that this song is not Anti-American. I bet that makes you feel better at night, right?

Well stop right there. American growth is IRRITATING. Your way of life is NOT the best way of life. The world does NOT want to live like you. You are NOT perfect OR the best.

Have you any idea how annoying it is to sit back and watch TV, only to find crowds of Americans, protesting this, supporting that, being all patriotic... America has to be one of the most arrogant countries in the world.

I'd like to say that this was not true for all Americans. I would like to say that small percent of the population isn't keen on America's growth. But you know what? The number of these people are so small it's NEGLIGIBLE.

Stay put.

Rant over.

Rammstein – Amerika Lyrics 21 years ago
I bloody love this song - it's incredibly well put together and perfectly expresses my thoughts - America's culture is spreading through the world, modernising every country it comes across. It says to me that the Americans believe that their way of life is the best and are trying to imprint their culture onto other countries, forcing peple to follow them as role-models.

In the video, when Till is singing "I don't sing my mother tongue", Rammstein are dressed up as Native Americans. I think it means that they no longer act like their ascendents and have moved on to the "American way of life".

There are some pretty cool people in America, but this song sums the whole country up perfectly. :D

Rammstein are the best band ever. I love them. 'Nuff said. ^^

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Dosed Lyrics 21 years ago
I think that this song is about drugs. Its about how Anthony thought that, at the time, the drugs were great - however when he got off them he realised how much he was missing in life.

"Closer than most to you" refers to when he thought the drug was special to him and he loved it more than anyone else.

"Take it away I never had it anyway. Take it away and everything will be okay" is when he realises that there was nothing there and the drugs were a complete waste of time. He can do without them.

"In you a star is born and, You cut a perfect form and, Someone forever warm" is saying that the drugs were a perfect partner that he could turn to at anytime and they would make him feel better.

"Lay on lay on lay on lay on. Lay on lay on lay on lay on" I'm not sure what this refers to. Maybe he would just lie down on the floor relaxed and let the drugs take him anywhere. Or maybe the drugs we're as good as the perfect woman. I don't know about this bit.

"Way upon the mountain where she died" As you climb a mountain you get higher. From the drugs, Anthony was getting higher and higher. But when he got "way upon the mountain", the peak of the 'high', the sensation "died" and he was back to his miserable self.

"All I ever wanted was your life" he just wanted a good life involving drugs. He soon realised that you cannot lead a good life with drugs.

"Deep inside the canyon I can't hide" he is hiding himself from everyone, becoming a recluse. He is not literally hiding in a canyon but he wants hide because he needs the drugs alone and is becoming solitary. However, he cannot hide as there are still poeple trying to talk to him and save him from the downward spiral.

"Show love with no remorse and, Climb on to your seahorse and, This ride is right on course, This is the way that I knew that it would be with you" is again saying that at the time the drugs were great and he was feeling unimaginable heights and fantasies.

In the song, the chorus is supposed to be the downside of the drugs, whereas the verses are the upside of drugs. Inside that, the chorus is said twice which means that at the beginning there was not much regret. However, at the end of the song the chorus is repeated many times meaning that after a while he realised that the downside was not worth the high and it was time to get off the drugs.

I just want to say that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are my favourite band. Anthony is a kickass vocalist, John is an awesome vocalist (and has inspired me to start learning the guitar), Flea is hilarious and outstanding with Bass (I might learn this in the future) and Chad totally rocks on the drums. Their music is fresh, original and totally amazing. The lyrics are deep and meaningful, and the entire band has been through so much together but managed to pull through and rock the world!

Just my two cents. I hope my opinion was useful, maybe even correct, but I doubt it :)
