quite possibly my favorite white stripes song! i just have to smile every time i hear "cant even see ya, look like a mouse". hah i dont know theyre just so cute or something and i get a picture of the whole thing with jack standing at the door waving. |

soooooo ill definitely be the only one with THIS interpretation but my friends and i recently got certified as EMTs and we made a cd of emergency medicine related songs (very emergency by the promise ring, bandages by hot hot heat....) for an EMT party we had. hah as it turns out we were actually able to read relevancy into several dashboard songs since most of them involve airway breathing or circulation. this song however was definitley the most directly relevant and so not everytime i hear "was there trauma or a struggle am i missing or was the body found" all i can think of are spinal injuries hah. ahh and if you could not send me hate mail for being a dork that would be just greaaat. |

i find it impossible to choose a "favorite" dashboard song since theyre all equally relevant and emotionally powerful. im sure someones already mentioned this but in addition to teenage superficiality and insecurity, i think this song involves the transition from high school to college where kids can reinvent themselves and start anew from the stereotypes and cliques of high school immaturity. |

word to the good life is RIGHT! i cant get enough of this song. it reminds me of this typical drunkard i know at college whos all about bars beer football and girls. the chance of him ever graduating college or getting a job isnt looking so good hah so we joke around that this is going to be him when hes in his 40s, stumbling around college town bars hitting on young girls and deluding himself to thinking that he was a hot commodity in his younger days and that reverting back is cool and NOT smarmy hah. awesome.
pinkerton is no doubt the climax of weezer's career and its been downhill since. i still cant believe that rivers is such a tool that he was too embarassed to play any pinkerton songs on their comeback tour. its called substance..... it makes songs good. |
