Murder by Death – Intergalactic Menopause Lyrics 16 years ago
When i saw them in Chicago at the Metro, before they played this song he said "Here's a song about being abducted by Aliens".
That may not be verbatim. Anyway, it makes sense.
I just wonder what the change part is about?
Almost seems like an alien getting acclimated to normal human life.

Sparta – Taking Back Control Lyrics 19 years ago
For some reason it just doesn't sound like Jim Ward singing the majority of this song. It almost sounds like someone else, with ward doing backups. His voice is really different on this album, he doesn't seem to be straining it like he did on Wiretap scars and Porcelain. I kind of liked that about his voice.

I agree, i heard this song live, and i've got to say. It was freakin' amazing. Luckily i heard they're coming back to my town (They were last here in August) and i just about shat myself.
Apparently yelling "Fuck yeah!" when you hear the news on a phone call in the middle of a crowded mall is a no...
whoops.

The Draft – Wired Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it might be "Shake every time when i leave this town" on the chorus.
Otherwise these seem pretty good.

Foo Fighters – Best Of You Lyrics 20 years ago
Ok, i know it's been said to death, but i have a friend who seems to be going through what i think the song's about. He really likes a girl, and they were sort of dating, but now she's moved back to her ex-boyfriend, and is just screwing him over, after he gave so much to her.
That's my take on it

Alkaline Trio – Fall Victim Lyrics 20 years ago
Another thing to add to his take on the song, is the line "we heard our records backwards too many times" would be that a lot of old Alkaline Trio songs were about heartbreak and the downsides of relationships, and dealing with that. Hearing that backwards may be a reference to not taking heed of past experience and doing something anyways.

Hot Water Music – The Sense Lyrics 20 years ago
I think you're right on track.
The song seems to be about how Children have a better life. They dont have the stresses of adult life, all the things adults have to do that are a pain in the ass. They live their life in a blissful world where they're too young and innocent to see how bad the world can actually be.

Alkaline Trio – Warbrain Lyrics 20 years ago
Maybe the song doesn't really have any political meaning at all, and Alkaline Trio just lent it's support to not liking George Bush by putting a B-side on, or recording a new song for the CD.
Kill the Night by Hot Water music is on RaB and i can't really take any meaning of government from it. It seems to be about the hardships of touring

When i saw Alkaline Trio at Warped Tour in 03 or 02 maybe it was
Matt was wearing a "Free the West Memphis Three" shirt

Alkaline Trio – Emma Lyrics 20 years ago
I dont really think the song would be about a girl who killed herself, maybe just one who came into his life really quickly, and left the same way. Maybe a girl he had a thing for, but it never really developed into anything more, that's my take

Alkaline Trio – All On Black Lyrics 20 years ago
A lot of people seem to take Matt Skiba's lyrics that lean towards darker things like the devil and things like that to mean that he's a satanist, but i read an interview in a magazine that came out shortly after this album, and he said he isn't a satanist, he just enjoys writing with darker lyrics and getting a rise out of people...i think that was the gist of it.
As for this song, i can see how it could relate to the devorce like someone brought up earlier

Alkaline Trio – Snake Oil Tanker Lyrics 21 years ago
The songs seems to me, to be about a fucked up relationship. You did something wrong, and it came to a not so friendly end. and looking back on it, you kind of wish you hadnt done what you had, and you're a bit lonely

Alkaline Trio – For Your Lungs Only Lyrics 21 years ago
Who says it's about smoking cigarettes?
It could just be a song about decisions you've made that you wish you could take back in general.

Alkaline Trio – '97 Lyrics 21 years ago
Seems like a lot of emotion for not being able to smoke.
Then again my best friends brother was at this one show in Chicago or something, and Matt Skiba told him 97 was about Owning his first puppy that died 18 months later.
People can say anything on the internet

Hot Water Music – Keep It Together Lyrics 21 years ago
I think the song means that things will eventually turn around.
You've just got to get your chin up and take things as they come, because nothing stays terrible forever

I saw them a few months ago.
Murder by Death is fucking amazing live.
If you ever get the chance, even if you have to sell family members or body parts, by all means.
do it!

At the Drive-In – Picket Fence Cartel Lyrics 21 years ago
I think this song is about becoming the thing you set out in life to not become at all costs.
I guess a better way to explain it, would be say, abusive fathers, who hit their children and wives. Well their Children often grow up, and have the same problems.
Children raised with Alcoholic parents a lot of times have drinking problems in their adult life.
As a kid, you say "I'm never going to lay a hand on my wife/kids" but then you just slip up and find yourself looking through your fathers eyes, doing just what he did. The same things you swore you wouldnt do.
That's my take

Deffinitly not Jim.
His voice is more raspy, and he does backups doesnt he?
I dont think he did main vocals on any songs.
This song is really good.
I too get the alienation in space theme.
Maybe just seeing life for what it is, repititious.
No matter way, most of us willingly accept the day in day out routine, out of comfort and fear of change.
It just seems like taking a step back, realizing where your life is, and what you wish it had been.
My take on it

At the Drive-In – Cosmonaut Lyrics 21 years ago
this song has always made me think of just the Soviet government in general.
Obvious would be the Cosmonaut title.
But more than that, the Soviet Union was well known for being always willing to erase someone from history at the drop of a hat.
I've seen pictures where on Stalin's command, a man close to him, who had crossed him was imprisioned then shot, and he was airbrushed out of every photograph relating him to Stalin.
The Soviet Union was always tight lipped with it's information, especially anything that could bring shame to the Soviet union.
After the Kursk sub accident, help was offered by many countries, but the soviets with their typical "we can do it our damn selves" attitude refused help until it was too late, and a lot of Sailors who could have been rescued died.
I dont know, it makes me think of that all.
Good damn song though
