The Beautiful South – One God Lyrics 11 years ago
"You're trying to walk like giants but you're wearing Pluto's shoes"

Since when has Pluto worn shoes? I think they mean Goofy.

Living in a Box – Room In Your Heart Lyrics 14 years ago
wow - first comment! I just heard this played on the radio and I'd forgotten all about it! Took me right back to my childhood when I was about 10. Obviously this is about someone who is feeling the love and protection of their partner. Beautiful song! I'm now going to download it....

Def Leppard – Love Bites Lyrics 19 years ago
I have about 300 songs on my favourite song list, but this is always without a doubt number one. This song and I go way back. It is about a man who loves this person but he questions whether they love him as much, so he's asking - do you really care? what happens when I'm not there? Is there someone else? Do you really care about anyone other than yourself. It's quite sad really. I also like the many different meanings of the words "Love Bites", you can give someone love bites, and love can also "bite" in the slang sense of the word -it bites, it's crap. But the real meaning is there in the words - if you've got love in your sights, watch out, love bites. If you're thinking of getting into something with someone, be careful cos love has a sting in the tail.

R.E.M. – I'll Take The Rain Lyrics 20 years ago
I wonder if this is a play on words in some way - "take the reigns", as in taking control of the situation. I can't make that make sense though, but just a thought.

Extreme – More Than Words Lyrics 20 years ago
This used to be my favourite song of all time when it first came out and I was about 13. I thought it was so deep and meaningful at the time, and I thought it was about a guy telling his girlfriend that he didn't just want to hear that she loved him, he wanted her to show him in other ways as well, like buying him little gifts and stuff that people do. Now that I am older and have been screwed over by more guys, I realise the true meaning of this song. It isn't my favourite any more. This is about a guy trying to get a girl to sleep with him using emotional blackmail - what would you do if my heart was torn in two? Well how exactly is that going to happen? Fuck off with you.

George Michael – Heal The Pain Lyrics 20 years ago
I love the beat of this song and the uppy-downy-ness of it (to use the technical term). George is very good at getting out the sentiments we all feel from time to time. In this case, someone wanting to help someone they care for deeply - help them to get over their idiot of an ex.

George Michael – You Have Been Loved Lyrics 20 years ago
I think this is very very sad song that can make me cry. It's about death and people struggling with dealing with the death of a loved one. In this case, George's partner and his partner's mother who has lost her son. I especially like "If it's God who took her son he cannot be the one living in her heart", because it shows how people can struggle with their beliefs after the death of a beloved one, especially a child who has died before their parents. So sad. It has a lot of religious undertones, but only in the way that people tend to contemplate what comes after when they are faced with death.

George Michael – I Can't Make You Love Me Lyrics 20 years ago
I can't believe there's no comments about this song. It is the perfect song for anyone feeling dejected or rejected by someone they want and can't have, whether that's someone who's already spoken for, somebody of the wrong gender, someone who just doesn't fancy you...whatever. It's the song that sums up that feeling of desperate frustration - I can't MAKE you love me if you don't. I can't make your heart feel something it won't." So deeply sad. But I feel everyone must experience this at one point or another.

George Michael – Kissing A Fool Lyrics 20 years ago
This is a really hard song to sing with all the highs and lows and minor keys. Anyway, I love this song. When I was going through breakup with a guy I played George's Ladies & Gentlemen album a lot so a lot of his songs from "For The Heart" mean a lot to me about that breakup - this one because I felt like i was a fool for letting him do the things he did with my head, and I felt HE was the fool for messing with me. But it didn't help me get over him because of the "But remember this..." section - "I will wait for you, like I always do, there's something there that can't compare..." etc - because if you feel sad about a breakup, not angry, you find it hard to move on. Sad times :(

George Michael – A Different Corner Lyrics 20 years ago
This is a lovely lovely song. I especially like "take me back in time i wish that I could forget. Turn a different corner and we never would have met." Because that's how I felt when I broke up with my wanker ex boyfriend - wished I'd turned a different corner on the day we met. :)

Air Supply – Even The Nights Are Better Lyrics 20 years ago
This song reminds me of my ex boyfriend. Reading it now I wonder why cos it doesn't sum up our relationship at all, but I think it was just that I was listening to it at the time. The best bit of this song is the violins in the background of the chorus - beautiful.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Dosed Lyrics 20 years ago
I don't think this song is about drugs. I think he uses the "dosed" word to describe the nature of his feelings towards the person he's singing to - he was intoxicated and addicted to them. This is a really beautiful song, and it means a lot to me because it has a lot of co-incidences to an experience I had last year. I had liked this guy for ages but he was someone else's and eventually I had to let him go and do what I knew he always would - go off with her - but we did spend one night together.

So I was "dosed" by him, I got "closer than most" to him (most, not all), and in then end i felt like "take it away I never had it anyway, and everything will be ok" as in, I'll get over him. He certainly "cut a perfect form" and he was absolutely "forever warm" as he never had a bad word to say about anyone.

He also said, on that one night, that he sometimes thought he'd like to be a seahorse (haha) in the sense that seahorses are the only creature where the male has the offspring. So the seahorse reference is relevent to, because it's an interesting variation on riding off into the sunset on a horse. Also i believe that whatever happens happens for a reason, so "This ride is right on course". "Lay on Lay on lay on lay on" means (to me) that he continues to lie to his girlfriend even to this day.

The only things that don't fit in with my own life are the bits about the Mountain and the Canyon. But then you know, it wasn't written about me was it, so why would that make sense?

Michael Jackson – Black or White Lyrics 20 years ago
"i think u r all lame he wrote it 4 other reasons look it up he is black with virtigo yes he tried to smooth it out with bleach but u wouldn't know any thing about Michael cuz ur coming up w/ lame shit it"

Are you sure you don't mean Vitiligo? Hmm? Don't think you can cure Vertigo with bleach. MJ is a bit of a joke these days, but this song was from when he was still pretty cool. I wish people would stop looking at his "freakishness" and concentrate on his music. Oh wait, maybe they do. That's why he's not popular any more cos his music's gone down the pan. The last good one he had that I liked was You Are Not Alone, and when was that? Like 1997 or something? The only reason he keeps going is so one day he can get an award for being in music for however many decades, when actually his new stuff doesn't even count. Fantastic in his time, but not any more.
