I was able to ask Melissa Auf der maur about whether or not she was featured on this song. Her answer was no. It was Billy Corgan on bass. Makes sense since he used to play guitar AND bass for the Marked. |

This song, being the first Pumpkins song, is about Billy's failure with his first band, The Marked. After playing 20 gigs down in Florida, the band came back to Chicago as failures. However, once back there, he met James Iha and thus this song was written as the first Pumpkins song. |

Supposedly in Russia, XYU is slang for male reproductive organ. Also, although the lyrics in the book say "I wanna break you", if you listen really closely, you can hear billy saying, "I wanna rape you" Also, in the Arising Tour, Billy can be heard singing a tease of "I might love you better if we slept together" in the middle of the song. This song is filled with sexual inuendo if you listen very closely. :) |
