What an amazing song. One of Dredg's best. Truely shows their softer side. |

I don't see this song as being about war in general, or about the Gulf War. I interpret this song to be about revolution in one's own country.
"The reign of terror corruption must end"
This line suggests a fight based on principle, rather than a soldier being pushed into a war of his government's choosing. |

I think this song is about the Vietnam war, more specifically the draft dodgers.
All of the lines can somewhat represent this, but the line that really cements it in my mind is
"And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?" as in exchanging the role of soldier for the role of inmate, for dodging the draft... any comments? |

BlackLungFever, you couldnt be more wrong. Addiction is a terrible thing and if I could convince every drug abuser out there to stop I would do everything in my power to do so, but this just isnt being accomplished. Drug abuse needs to be dealt with using treatment and help, not incarceration. The war on drugs is punishing these people for something they cannot control. Aside from the abusers, the war on drugs is taking freedom away from recreational users. People need to be able to make their own decision about which poison they want to use, be it alcohol, marijuana, or cocaine, it makes no difference. Thats my 2 cents :) |
