Joplin based the grammar and general idea of the song on a song called “Whores is Funky”, which she heard while barhopping when she was younger. I don't think she meant for it to be taken very seriously. I don't think she even related to most women. She mostly hung out with guys and lead a lifestyle that didn't fit into her childhood ideal of womanhood. |
