i must admit that i love this song. we all have these thoughts inside...thoughts that we hide from others. sometimes those thoughts are violent...but its how we deal with stressful situations. we can be so calm and reseved on the outside...but internally were screaming and thinking of hurting those that annoy us. we all have these feelings....its a very human response. |

I think this song is about that little flash of inspiration you get...when you realize things arent what they seem to be. Perhaps it is a relationship you are in or a religion that you have been a part of for a long time...then theres a flash of understanding. You realize that you dont believe in your relationship....or religion...and you can no longer be a part of it. i imagine this song in a very physical setting...a dinner...perhaps the same diner that waitress is set in...she is walking back to the table and she has this flash of inspiration....why am i in this relationship with this person...why??? she realizes that its pretty much a lie...and in that flash begins to question other parts of her life as well...so she continues walking to the table in a bit of a daze...and he says..."i ordered you a pancake"...this brings her back to the moment that she is in....but she is a slightly different person...she is questioning her life now. she has a slightly different outlook. she is growing. |
