Bright Eyes – Bowl of Oranges Lyrics 20 years ago
i don't think it's necessarily just about depression, but the tendency that we have to look at life with our own tainted view. if we really stepped back and saw it from an objective view, it would be more beautiful than we could even describe.

Iron & Wine – Jesus the Mexican Boy Lyrics 20 years ago
I think MikeIshigaki hit it right on. I think too many people see Jesus as this holier-than-thou being when really he was a man. He's been through the same things as us and is still there even after we treat him like garbage. I also think it shows how you never really know who anyone really is. Sometimes, when you least expect it, someone wonderful is right there next to you and you have no idea.

Iron & Wine – Teeth in the Grass Lyrics 20 years ago
i always thought of "teeth in the grass" as a fight. maybe 'cause i'm from the po-dunk south, but i've seen some fights in the front yard that ended with teeth in the grass. i just think it's about how no matter how happy you are, somebody's always out to ruin it, out to start some crap.

I think it's more about the embarrassment of having people gossip about you. Even when you don't necessarily think the things you're doing are all that bad, others still talk. It doesn't just hurt you, but those you care about also. I just picture a young couple that knows as soon as they leave the room everyone will talk about what they've done and what a pity it is that they've brought this on their families. People try to lecture them or make them think they should stop, but it doesn't work. They don't want to stop.
