| Dashboard Confessional – Reason To Believe Lyrics | 18 years ago |

i hate to say so, but i disagree with everything said already. to me, he's using physical effort/running/exercise as a metaphor for relationships and being willing and able to go "that extra mile," (which is why pushing yourself physically is a good metaphor). lines like, "I know that you are strong enough to handle what I need," relate the author expecting a lot from both, his body and his girlfriend. Lastly, the lines, "My body needs a reason to cross that line. Will you carry me there one more time?" imply a mental resistance to commitment, and being ambivilent to putting oneself out there. Break on Through. |

| Ben Kweller – I Don't Know Why Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Waitingonyou - It's on the "Freak Out...It's Ben Kweller" album. There are only a 1,000 or so copies out there. I think you'll be able to find it using a peer-to-peer network. Best of luck. It's an awesome EP. | |

Damn. I totally wish I was one of the first posters. Alright, so yeah...the lyric. Here's my own personal opinion: If you don't notice the lyric being sorta strange...then you accept what's beautiful even though it has flaws. Does that make sense? It's sorta like...he's using a sorting device. How? The lyric might confuse people such as Minime and turn them off to his music. So...the people that continue to listen to Ben appreciate beauty even with its flaws. Personally...I don't even notice the lyric being off because the music is so beautiful. He could be talking about ANYTHING and I could give a crap. The music's that beautiful. And, dude...THERE IS SUCH A BETTER VERSION out there. SWEAR! He recorded an EP called "Freak Out...It's Ben Kweller" and the version on that CD is INCREDIBLY better. I have a sealed copy of "Freak Out...". I don't think I'll open it any time soon. It's like my ace-in-the-hole if I'm short rent money one month. Cheers! And dude, if I can help anyone with any Ben related questions, don't hesitate to hit me up: GranolaNatured on AIM. Or just send me an email. Have fun. |

This is my fave Ben song on his new album. I'm not entirely sure what it's about, but it's a dang good song! The harmonica in the beginning...the chorus, just an outstanding song. One of his best, along with "In Other Words", "Falling", "Problems", and "I Don't Know Why". Ben's the freaking man!!!! |

| Ben Kweller – Wasted & Ready Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Ben is now 22, for those who asked. Wasted & Ready is an interesting song. As I said in an earlier post, Ben writes in a stream of consciousness, and often times, they don't make sense. I saw him perform for Rolling Stone, and he prefaced the Wasted & Ready by saying, "This Wasted & Ready...I don't know what it's about". How often does an artist, NOT know what their song is about?! Interesting, interesting stuff! Ben did do some drugs and stuff for awhile. I read a Radish interview (when he was 16) where he said, "If it's there, do it"...then backtracked and said, "I don't want to sound all baaad. They're a waste of money". A waste of money, and Wasted & Ready. Anybody else notice that? I never had a fave band till I heard Ben. I could never decide. Not anymore.... |

| Ben Kweller – I Need You Back Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I've seen Ben in an interview talking about this song. He said, that it's a song he's had for awhile and hasn't really had the opportunity to do it the way he wanted until now. He also said the lyrics were fun to sing. Can't say I blame him. How fun to sing, "I need you back!" It's pretty much online with "Why can't I get/just one screw" from Ben's fave the Violent Femmes. Great song. I happen to think this might be about Ben's relationships after Radish, maybe even during as he said it's a song he's had awhile. How many of haven't felt like, "I need you back!!!" |

| Ben Kweller – Hospital Bed Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I love this song. I haven't the slightest what it means. To many people, some of Ben's music is very frustrating. "What's with the lyrics! Butterflies are passive-aggressive?!" Ben writes in what's called a stream of consciousness. Those who have tried to write one (myself included), know that often times what you write makes no sense at all. (Haha. I once wrote in one, "A rose bed of empty promises". WTF?!) See what I mean, it's basically your unconscious talking, and if you're into psych, you'll realize that often times, your unconscious can say some pretty weird crap. I think Beck may be the same way, too. But that's speculation. Ben does this because I've heard him talk about it. |

Wow, what a brutally honest song. To me, this song is all about not knowing why things are the way they are. And trying to figure them out. Hard stuff. |

| Ben Kweller – Problems Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Dude. It takes GUTS to put out a song that says, "I've got issues". Damn. To let the whole world know, you feel like you've got problems?! Pretty genuine person, here. This song was written during a pretty difficult time for Ben. He had moved from Texas to be with his girlfriend in CT. He had quit Radish, and not knowing anyone in the area, he was pretty much left to his own devices. He had a computer music recording program (he's hardcore into Mac's), and recorded this song on his computer and titled the album, "Freak Out It's...Ben Kweller," because no one else was in the room besides himself. It's dang hard to find, but a GREAT album. If you're a big Ben fan, try eBay. They run about $50. He wants to re-release it, eventually.... |

| My apartment is my comfort zone as well. I can really relate. The song gives the exact feeling of apartment life. | |
| Ben Kweller – Wantin' Her Again Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Woah, does this song mean a lot. To me, it's meaning is the basis of the song! The meaning is EVERYTHING to this song! It means that Ben's had this girlfriend, that just for all intents and purposes, gets off on his feelings for her. She enjoys the bad feelings she give him when she needs to know where she's going. She essentially enjoys the bad feelings she gives him. To me, it's about a girl that simply gets off on his insecurities and feelings. Pretty heavy stuff. |
