I'd recommend starting with the novella Anthem. It's a quick introduction to the philosophy of Ayn Rand, kown as objectivism, which is present in many of Peart's lyrics and themes. Plus, the storyline in 2112 was based off Anthem. |

I'm not a metalhead. Pink Floyd, Rush, and Yes are my favorite bands. I just happen to like a few metal bands (Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath), because they can actually play their instuments. Also, Metallica never did much for me.
I have came to the conclusion that your posts are either sarcastic, or your an attendant at a special school. No one in the right mind could honestly believe that Good Charlotte is one of the greatest bands ever. Then again, even Down syndrome kids have minds too advanced for Good Charlotte's music.
If your posts aren't sarcasm, then go out and buy Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. If you still think Green Day and Good Charlotte are the best after hearing such a masterpiece, then you need some serious help. |

This cover sucks so much, it makes my head hurt. Why the hell would a band like Korn do a cover of Pink Floyd? Their styles are completely different, not to mention Pink Floyd is easily one of the greatest rock bands of all time (right up there with Rush and Yes). Some might argue that Led Zeppelin was a better 70s band, but Pink Floyd was way more original and complex than Zeppelin (don't get me wrong, I love Zeppelin).
I can't stand the guitar solo in this song. I've heard some of Korn's original stuff, and their guitarist(s) seem to do a decent job. However, as stated by kcscsupporter, this guy can't even compare to Gilmour. Few guitar players can. His solos may not be the fastest, but he plays with more style than just about anyone. The original solo in "Another Brick In the Wall pt. 2" is absolutely orgasmic. Come to think of it, most of Pink Floyd's songs in general are orgasmic. I'm currently listening to "Echoes" and am achieving a 23 minute orgasm - something I thought was impossible until I stumbled across the great music of Pink Floyd. |

1. Kurt Cobain wrote simple, catchy songs. Iron Maiden wrote many epic and complex songs, fusing progressive rock and classical into heavy metal. I don't see how you think Kurt Cobain was a better songwriter.
2. Nirvana didn't create grunge, they just made it popular and influenced many bands in the future. Kind of like what Maiden did with metal.

I just can't get over how awesome this Good Charlotte band is. Their music is incredibly complex and original. I bought this album and Led Zeppelin IV at the same time, and I must say Good Charlotte blows Zeppelin away. "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" will outlast "Stairway to Heaven" by a long shot. Could Zeppelin write such an epic song like the Anthem? No. Could Jimmy Page write amazing guitar riffs and solos like Benji? No. Classic Rock is for the musically challenged anyways.
